How to stay warm in a highseat overnight

Have a look at Askari website trufflehunting some very nice bags on there for long sits having one for our cull days .

What you sit on is something not to be overlooked, especially if sitting on something like metal that ca draw the heat out of you. 'Two below for one above' as the old camping saying goes.

Agree I started to use a cutoff of kingspan wall insulation, the one with foil either end with foam in the centre about 50mm thick. I find it actually warms you up.

I think it would have to be very cold for merino wool underwear, a couple of fleece layers, Rusky bibs and a similar jacket to not keep you warm in the UK. A warm hat is very important as are boots that are not too tight with heavy winter merino wool socks. I actually find the Rusky bibs too warm at times and certainly if you then have to drag a beast back to the car! For static sitting they are excellent. I believe the Seeland equivalent will be as warm...

The best thing i have is a german army sniper bag, basically a two layer sleeping bag with hood and arms. The bottom zips open and can be buckled up to let you walk . Internal layer is quilted, external wind and very waterproof, fine lying in snow or sodden ground. Only problem is a bit too comfy, tend to fall asleep, especially if spent a couple of all nighters at dens already. and wake up daylight

By far the best thing to keep you warm at night is the Quilt at home on your bed!!! Why on earth would you sit out all night in a seat at this time of year!:cuckoo:
Maybe in the summer when it is warm and the night is only about 4-5 hours long, but even then it is dedication beyond the call of duty!
Go home and then come back in the morning!!!!!!!!!!!!
MS:)

I think MS is on the right lines but if you insist on sitting in the seat all night then
1. Arrive early
2. Dismantle seat and place in / on vehicle
3. Drive to closest B&B
4. Erect seat in room preferably just above a radiator
5. Set alarm clock, settle in & enjoy. lol

The OP asked what keeps him warm if sitting out all night. So why don't we just answer that and let him worry about the reasons for it? Maybe he just likes sitting out all night....

Ian is this for your coming boar outings ?
Plenty layers , good warm hat and a sleeping bag to sit in is what i use
Its unlikely you,l manage all night (hope not if im with you) the thing i would say is that its not how long you sit its usually how quietly
Most boar are shot between 6pm and 9pm with a few between 9pm and 11pm if you get to 11pm and nothings showed up they,ve usually
sussed that your there or just wont going to use rhat feed station
We,v tryed sitting out all night but with poor results
I had an SD member out last night all the way from Mull , hopefully he will do a write -up and post pics (mine were rubbish):-D

Apart from the clothing suggestions this us the best advice to take on board.

I've sat many a times in colins hightseats and sitting for 6/7 hours ultimately motionless even in these temperatures can be difficult.
I once sat out in minus 8 for six hours never again.
My three boar have come at 18:45, 22:30 and 23:30.
Don't be tempted to move as soon ad you think they are there allow the to settle first the look.

Good luck.

Good advice all my boar are taken between dusk & 1am & only rarely do they appear on the cameras outside these times, as for clothing keep your feet warm & the rest is easy Harkila Inuit boots are superb & genuine Heat Holders socks are great sitting still is a lot different to being mobile in the cold a flask also helps.
