Cerakote Firearm coatings, the facts.

James, so to confirm, you can cerakote to look pretty similar to bluing or blacking on a shotgun?

How much would it be for a set of 20g S/S barrels (24'' i think) If i dropped them off at Kelso?

Thanks,

FFM

I confirm I can coat to make it look pretty and yes the black looks similar to shotgun blacking.

if you drop them off it'll be around £100 plus postage, usually £20.

Is it worth me dropping off my rifle bits at the show or easier for you if I send via post? Less to lose and pack away etc...?

Entirely up to you, all I require from anyone wishing to drop anything off is leave what they want coated. I require stocks, triggers etc.

Quick update, Anyone sending me coating work or machining work, I'll do the work (as per original offer, barrel, action, bottom metal, mod etc as a package) including postage back to you, to coincide with The Kelso Fair next month. :)

But by all accounts I haven't a clue what I'm doing and a cheap job is a sh*t job. Oh well.

sounds like you will be stacked out as you have set a great price and not lifting anyones leg with inflated prices.
I have a question as i was going to strip two of my older rifles and re blue but your thread has interested me if you can get it near to blueing.
can things like pop up sights be fitted after its been coated and what i mean is can the dovetails be masked off so the sights can fit afterwards or is it a case of everything needs to be on and then painted, atb wayne

Ah, now it's time to set the record straight...

For anyone interested, I have all the necessary equipment to complete coating work.

Degreasing tanks x 4 Check

Grit blasting cabinet x 1 Check

6'x 5' Purpose built clean air spray booth with full extractor and air fed breathing system. Check

Ovens x 2 check

Warming room. Check

Lathes for machining x 2 Check

Milling Machine (in other workshop) Check

Full gun plumbing facilities in 1200sq ft workshop. Check

The Gaul to tear people a new ar*hole with the work I do because it's a dark art. No need to check because it's horsesiht!

If folk are happy paying double or more I have no problem with that but nothing I do is cheap and nasty, cheaper doesn't mean bad workmanship. It's those trying to say otherwise to justify their prices.

I do my upmost to accommodate people's wishes, if I can remove sights and replace I will. Most of the time there is no issue with parts functioning afterwards. As long as you take care in what you are doing with it.

very interesting, The sights are already removed but was unshure how thick the coatings are to refit the sights afterwards hence asking about masking you will have another customer to add to your list after i finish the rifles, thanks wayne

No trouble Wayne, much appreciated.

You won't have a new behind torn like some do to customers, I promise. :)

Its done mate, I may well have to meet Mr Lordy in person...I'm sure he's grateful of not having a new behind torn just because he's a bit flush! :D
