I think that the answer is best dealt with by this question: What bullet weight do you currently shoot in your 270?
If you currently shoot a 130 grain bullet, or lighter, in the 270 then really you'll not see much benefit using the 25-06 with the "standard" 117 grain bullet.
But if you shoot, as some increasingly do, a 140 grain or 150 grain "low velocity" bullet at 2,700fps to 2,800fps in your 270 then a 25-06 with a 117 grain bullet might make sense for foxes.
In real life the 130 grain 270 and 117 grain 25-06 as loaded at the factory are so close together in performance as no animal would ever know the difference.
One last thing. The 25-06 works best with 24" long barrels.
