Hey Taff, sorry to hear that mate.
This Joker is going back on a verbal agreement of £3kg, certainly not cricket....
You haven't yet stated the reason for the change in agreed price? If it is due to price drop per kg after the agreement, then you have good argument. However, if it is due to carcass damage you may not.
One of the reasons I use PB Game is because they do not dictate where deer should be shot! No more is paid for head/neck shot animals, and no less is paid for a clean chest shot animal with shoulder damage. They will however deduct for Haunch or Saddle damage or contamination which is understandable. It is often not until a beast is skinned that this damage/contam is apparent!
A high chest shot is normally the cause of this where the spine is damaged. Blood and bruising can be found a good way back from the shot site which ruins the saddle/fillet. A seemingly good chest shot which clips the food pipe can end up with a huge green mess under the exit shoulder blade as a good friend of mine on here discovered just recently! Having dealt with the company for a good while now, I have no doubt that the veterinary inspection process is carried out fairly and honest deductions made where appropriate.
There are too many cases on here lately where reputable companies receive 'trial by keyboard' and have reputations damaged, yet we are only seeing one side of the story when there is always two!
I'm not suggesting that this is the case here, but sometimes it's better to wait until the whole truth is out before passing judgement?
As for sole traders, they too should expect a deduction in pay for poor work or damage caused.
I hope this matter meets a just conclusion - either way.
