😡

The price for 250g Venison Steaks here in Denmark: 119 dkr. = £13.91
Diced venison 300g: 51dkr. = £5.96
That's very close to the price of minced beef.

Game dealers typically give 20-25 DKK = £2.34-2.92 per kg to the stalker, If the carcass has any signs of poor shooting or other damage/dirt, he won't take it at all.

Diced is the same price as a large local farmshop (or was last season, not sure what they are charging this year) and those steaks are a lot cheaper than theirs.

I've bought them before I admit there decently tasty there actually what introduced me to venison as a whole... so not a terrible thing in hind-sight.
I wouldn't buy the venison steaks usually but they go down too £5 decently often what too be fair for meat isn't a dreadful price.

Its also worth keeping in mind venison Is typically associated with being a very rich meat. (I wouldn't say so personally, not that much different too beef in my eyes) but too non venison eaters, there not wanting big huge steaks (normally) and If they are, they know for the most part what there doing and how to source (e.g butchers, venison dealer) than a package on a super market shelf.

Of course if you think about it, minimum wage is £ 12 or so, so if you're paying someone to shoot it, clean, butcher, package, transport etc then these prices are realistic, after all every commodity is based on how much/many are sold? Many of us would be horrified by the actual cost of obtaining our carcase. In my case my last trip to Scotland (4 days) cost over £500 , so my 2 roe would have been £10/lb, and that's not counting the 16 hours or so I spent actually getting them🤔

If @75 's post is genuine, someone needs to have a word with Trading Standards! They have obviously cut the barcode/price details out of a CostCo pack IMHO.................
