12v Air Compressor Recommendations

Amazon basics dual piston compressor is good for occasional use. Spending more doesn’t get a lot extra until you get into ARB territory.

After reading this thread I bought a Viair 88P, which I now keep in the truck.

It does everything I am likely to need, and the quality is excellent.

I did upgrade it with a Haltec Quick Release air chuck.

I have one that comes with the Mercedes loan cars pump up the ranger no problems

and a puncture worm kit

arb are great little compressors, I have them in both my defenders

The little cheap ones from Halfords etc that cost £20 are great for pumping up the tires if they are a bit flat. If you have let the tires down to give extra traction on snow, mud etc it may take 20 mins to get them all back up to pressure. If its occasionally, or you are in no rush then brew up a cup tea and relax.

I keep one in the car amd its used a few times a year, mostly on trailer tires.

Proper 4x4 / overland type work where are deglating and re inflating tires to suit road conditions regularly then a compressor with a decent sized tank allows much more speed, but at the cost of weight, space and £££.

Viair and ARB are the two leading brands we sell for doing 4x4 tyres on overlanding Land Cruisers, some are stand alone, some mounted on board with tanks. The cheapies tend not to last long with 4x4 tyres.

Also take a look at T Max - they do a portable that packs a reasonable punch for not much money.

Dewalt XR inflator or the Makita one are good if you already have the 18v battery from their other power tools.
I have the Dewalt one, use it for home tyres (bikes/cars) and also the low pressure hose for camping air beds and paddling pool etc.

I've just bought an ARB. Expensive but excellent quality and very quick to inflate my BF Goodrich mud terrains.

I went for the HIGH OUTPUT PORTABLE COMPRESSOR

It wasn’t intended as joke but I guess upon reflection you would need some serious grunt (amps) to drive a compressor that could fill a diver’s breathing air tank.

Not really bud. The ones that are used now, not the commercial ones, the home use ones, run on 12v.
