The increased recoil from the WM compared to the 30.06 on driven boar may be an issue.
Velocity means b all unless your stretching the legs on targets. If you are then the WM would be better. But I'd go 30.06 because I've got one.

Definitely get a 300 win mag great bit of kit went to France a couple of weeks ago the guide had one in semi auto need I say more

Do you hand load?
you can always load a big cartridge down but you can hardly ever load a smaller one up.
