I should stay away Ronin you could dig yourself a hole.
A mate of mine got his .375 granted specifically with the reason of use in the U.K. on large red deer in Scotland in thick forestry. He has it all fully open, deer and AOLQ.That says you can use the .375 in the UK on open conditions. Never disputed that. However was your good reason for having a .375 for UK use? Or was it foreign use, but the police also allow you to use it in the UK?
And don’t forget to mention that standard issue for Forestry England for all deer control is the 308 Win. And the 308?win and 30-06 are pretty much the same in terms energy etc in most common loadings, especially once you get out to 150 to 200m.I would inform the FEO in writing that the 30.06 and .308 are the same caliber and ask them to explain in detail why they think the 30.06 is too powerful.
Ah but never quote what that powers that be dictate from above!!!Yes.
And, usefully, that table also reflects the negligible difference in ME that exists between typical .308 and 30.06 loads.

I think, those figures are slightly off...Yes.

7.62x51/.308 should be 2,400-2,600, the .30-06 is 2,600-3,000. Not your fault, but it's the way the table has been arranged
That’s what I said. This seems not to be about ‘if’ 3006 is a suitable UK deer round - it is, but what ‘need’ the applicant has for wanting another deer round.I get that many stalkers want “more” calibers but from a U.K. stalking point of view what does the 30-06 do that a 308/270 won’t
The Firearms Acts don't recognise "need " or "desire" . "Good Reason" is what is required. That’s what I said. This seems not to be about ‘if’ 3006 is a suitable UK deer round - it is, but what ‘need’ the applicant has for wanting another deer round.

You should read the Act and the HO Guidance. It is quite clear about this.I don’t think we need trouble the Law Lords with this, genuine need/good reason - same.

q) If a guy has three Mercs two BMW’s and Maserati in his garage but decides he now needs a Ferrari as well; who or what is to stop him?The Firearms Acts don't recognise "need " or "desire" . "Good Reason" is what is required.
