I love my fine tuned 06 zg47 above all else, can take 6 rounds and has the original trigger crisp as glass at 0.75lb.I like a rifle with a decent straight comb stock, a very consistant and light trigger (<1.5lb), approx 21-23" barrel with moderator giving an all up weight of 8.5-10lbs that is front heavy, silent safety, minimum 4 rounds magazine, drop plate or blind magazine (so I don't lose it and so the rifle isn't "loaded" with an empty mag) and low mounts. These are all considerations I would take over and above any concerns over calibre.
I built a BRNO ZG 47 to this spec and found a remington M700 someone else had. Both are 30-06 which is fine by me.
Many people align themselves to particular brands or calibres. I would suggest you look at the attributes you want and find something that satisfies these irrespective of make or calibre.

Bloody amazing rifle! They even milled a channel out of the top of the receiver to create a perfect view of the iron sights..very very clever ...I do wish I could find a zg47 in 7x57 or 9.3x62, but will probably die before one comes for sale in the uk

A very old friend of mine has two ZG47's , one in 8x64 and another in , sorry , 9.3x62 . They are beautiful old rifles and shoot very well . The zg's come up fairly often for sale out here , usually chambered in 270 , 7x57 , 30/06 or 8x57 , which pretty much covers most game we have . They aren't cheap however , and the less common calibers like the 8x64/68 and 9.3x62 go for considerably more . They're a well thought of rifle out here and have a strong following , as do most Brno rifles .

Lol! Not sure which smiths those are!! Crazy ones perhapsSadly here in the UK they are viewed much as rubbish. Its not even easy to get a smith to work on one as they make no distinction between a ZG47 and one of the much later budget models.
Saw one at auction a few years ago and stupidly didn’t buy it. Think it was around £200There's a picture of my Parker Hale Hussar 308 on here somewhere . A bit of a rarity , Parker Hale built the Hussar on ZG 47 actions for a very short time , I've heard less than 500 units but I've never found a solid number . My rifles serial number is in the low 300's , it is an honest 1 MOA rifle under all conditions , beautiful little rifle . I may be mistaken , but I think I sent some pics to Southern of it . I paid 400 Northern Pesos for it , I still smile to myself every now and then over that one .

I would like to see that photo, if you can remember where it's stashed? There's a picture of my Parker Hale Hussar 308 on here somewhere . A new ( old ) Parker Hale
After a long and fruitless search, about ten or so years, I had a Parker Hale Hussar drop in my lap this mourning. This is the model built on the Czech ZG 47 action. It's the second one I've seen in twenty+ years , and needless to say, it's mine. It has a three digit serial number, starting with...www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk
