I got the chance to buy one of these cheap would it work on my 223 would i need a better ir source your help would be appreciated thanx.

.....Gen 1 on a .223 is not really worth it IMHO unless you are only shooting rabbits. Gen 2 for foxes.

I have a ATN 410 Spartan which is 5x and my mate has an ATN 4x not sure what its called . I got an IR laser illuminator. Worth every penny, it transformed both of them. Foxes no prob , not huge ranges but 150 no prob.
If your not spending much on the Paladin get one.
