Just go with GWCT, money goes to great use and comes with insurance and some decent literature too

I left BASC because they stopped the insurance and joined SACS, which is cheaper!
they have not stopped insurance, just a small section of it that was used by a handful of people and had huge exclusion clauses and BASC/policyholder liable for first huge amount (think it was 100k) - it covered legal argument with Police if FAC refused unlawfully

I might be wrong, but is it not simply the removal of the clause that covers court costs, that BDS and BASC have removed???
I would suggest if people are not happy then there are alternatives. If you are looking for commercial coverage for clients, guides working for you or volunteers, plus yourself I would suggest contacting Clivertons.
The cost of the insurance depends on your yearly turnover and mine covers me and all those employed or volunteering for me, plus any client whilst out stalking with me for 10 million public liability.
I should add that any one undertaking payment for stalking should also ensure their vehicle is insured for business.

BASC public liability insurance continues unchanged, as far as I can tell. The element that was removed was legal fees for certificate cases only (ie revocation/refusal etc) , which was itself an additional service bolted-on without additional cost to the main policy for just a few years before it was dropped. That element, I am told, is now covered in-house, where applicable.
My understanding, as a member, is that BDS is ceasing public liability cover as part of the standard membership package. From now on, if you want insurance as before, you can get it from a recommended third party provider for a separate fee of £32.95.
Also, GWCT public liability insurance is no longer part of their standard membership - it is now only available to premium members.
Basically, the shooting insurance market is becoming very difficult. I would not be surprised if more organisations withdrew from providing public liability cover as part of their standard membership package over the coming year as their corporate renewals become due.

Short memories some have here. Everyone rightly IMHO castigated BASC but others including GWCT, SACS and NGO were part of this joint endeavour and in so doing endorsed the lie that "British wildfowlers" have already moved away from lead. For is not Scotland where lead, in certain circumstances is still lawful and legal for wildfowl, part of Britain?

Me too. Currently lookig at my options. There was a mention in the letter of 'alternative cover' for £27.95. Any idea wh this is with?

Worrying to see that for many the only reason for joining any of these organisations is for insurance....surely there is more to it than that?
