Saw my first in Derbyshire this morning. I didn't get close but looked very fresh and wobbly so suspect it'd been born overnight. It's usually another 3-4 weeks before I get sight of them but the bracken is unusually low this year (we had hard frosts and snow in early winter when it was still green so I think that did a good job of flattening it for the first time in a good few years)Next generation has arrived in D&G

For sure on the new growth - well behind on where it should be. Even the grass is doing nowt and folk are mowing it as it's going backwards not because it's ready to go up the forager.I think its the lack of water mate - our is normally a jungle and the meadows full of colour but so much stuff is stressed and going to seed already
