Matt states that these sightings are normally in clusters, i think this is because the seed has been set and people expect or want to see one, i have met and know several sane people that think they have seen a big cat, im calling nobody a liar, but i remain a total non believer, until one bites me on the arse of course:lol:

Well its 36 years since the act and who knows how many were released. The average age I guess would over be 10years plus because of the lack of competition from other predators like lions or tigers in their native homes. If a male tiger in Siberia can have a home range of 400sq miles then I see no reason why that couldn't apply to leopards over here. The reason why 2 black leopards are more likely to produce black offspring is because the black gene is the dominant gene in this very small genetic bottle neck. I've never seen a fawn leopard before!? You find so many fox cubs because there are so many foxes! If there was only a leopard population of 250 in the whole of the UK what are the chance of finding just one litter! Very small. The reason that you don't see them is because they've already seen or heard you coming! And cats go up, they don't sit on the floor! The average fox cage trap is to small for them. If your setting snares then their feline gait is totally wrong for a snare set for a fox. You don't go to Africa step off the plane and start seeing leopards, they are a shy and elusive animal. In some parts of Africa they many have a population density of one per 2sq miles! The Uk is 94.000 sq miles so if we had a population of 250 thats a leopard every 376 sq miles, good luck!
so the chances of seeing one are very small indeed

Don't know much about british cats but I have read a bit on leopards and they can have ranges of 500sq miles and for my money are the most elusive and deadliest killers of em all, the no hard evidence does leave the debate open but so many sightings are also hard to ignore

It's not a cat, I see multiple medium pressure bites and associated bruising that I would expect to see and have seen done by a medium sized dog (collie/lab size) that had got in around the sheeps neck. There is also the tear in the skin which is dog not cat because a cat latches on and suffocates large prey. The two main areas of hemorraghing on the shoulder shows one with sign of a penetration though bite pressure and the other without penetration. Dogs when getting stuck in about leave such marks before they get a good hold on the sheep as the bite at it.

I believe so sir. Right place at the right time with a 40 gallon barrel of pure grade A luck.
but youve seen cats in different locations how many times ? sounds more like 40 gallons of cider sir ! funny how they never leave a foot print even on all that snow we had last winter

Paul im sorry if i led you to believe that this was a comp to prove what killed the lamb... i know that it was a Lynx that killed this and several others in the area...
