Finally my fac has dropped through the door , I won’t go into how long etc , I’m picking up a tikka t3 ultra lite .243 today , I know it’s a piece of string question but as a starting point what are people using ammo wise ? Be mostly minty , cwd ,roe and odd day at the range , what suits your rifle the best , thanks

What is the twist rate in the barrel ? If it's the new 8 twist version, you can try anything you local shop has available.

When I bought factory ammo for my 243 I found that Remington accutip 95gn worked very nicely.
The 75gn version is very fast and great on foxes and geese but a bit explosive on deer.
My custom loads use 85gn ballistic tip sierras, I think, and they do a good job.

Thanks for the help, picked it up and the guy in shop couldn’t have been more helpful apparently previous owner had bought sake game head 100gr and hornady whitetail100gr so maybe start there ,might get a box of the power shock to try as well , cheers

Good luck! My Ruger 243 will group anyone's 100grn factory loads all together even loaded in sequence in the magazine. We should all be so lucky.

After much trial and error, I have settled on two. 243 rounds to cover all bases:

1) RWS T Mantel, 100 grain, soft point, for deer;
2) Hornady Superperformance V-max 58 grain for foxes (and head shooting park deer).

Interestingly, I don't have to adjust my scope when swapping between the two rounds, and other users have reported the same.

Hornady 87gr Vmax Very accurate knocks roe and Muntys down , right placement bit of damage can’t kill without damage , nothing that spoils the meat , wouldn’t use anything else
