Canada Geese 22lr.

I’ve been asked to sort out a dozen or so geese that have taken up residence on a golf course over the last few years.
Needs to be discreet noise wise otherwise i’d have sorted them with the C/F which i have AOLQ on, so i’m thinking 22lr.
My renewal is going in and i asked the office if i could have AOLQ on my HMR and 22lr so i’m covered and they said they wouldn’t put that on a rimfire?
Only way i can do it is provide a letter explains the geese issue then they would include it in the conditions.
This may take some time and i don’t want it to delay the renewal that i’ll be posting next week.
Anyone else shoot geese with a 22lr and have AOLQ on their ticket?

Appreciate that most occasions they are as useful as a chocolate fireguard but if you're in BASC see if they can put a call into the licensing office and explain what the guidelines say regarding suitable quarry for .22lr and hmr calibres and AOLQ is allowed.

ask them to change the wording or you will have to use a centre fire, you clearly identified a need.
what does your ticket say at the moment?

Do you want to scare and maybe eat one or two or just scare them off?

If its the later use a 22 or shotgun as I doubt you’ll get close enough to do any damage. If the former use your CF and a moderator.

Thanks guys, when i asked the question the person didn’t know and disappeared and came back with the geese condition.
I thought i’d seen images of peoples rifles including rimmys with AOLQ on their ticket so that’s the route i’ll push for.

Regarding just getting on with it, not that simple, the area is in close proximity to houses albeit shooting away from them and as you know golfers are mental no matter what time of day there’s a chance you will see one, shooting what some members class as their pet geese could result in the fuzz turning up, ive had them out before when foxing on there so all bases will be covered, i value my licence!!

what does your ticket say regarding 22lr?

Got AOLQ on my FAC for .22lr, HMR and .223, also had a massive Canadian Geese problem on my golf course permission when I first got it but not anymore.

What about the None toxic thing ?
I have known a few pest control guys in the past who seem to prefer 22 mag and 22 hornet , the last thing you want is one flying off to die in an inappropriate location . Geese i can attest as an ex wildfowler , can be a difficult bird to nail on the spot
The "CANADA " is a large goose
Personally in areas where they are the biggest nuisance , they are rather tame . shooting a moderated 410 / 20 bore with none toxic might be appropriate?
Or Just a concerted go at licenced egg oiling ?
To shoot deer with a rifle, i would want to be invoicing someone though as its about as sporting as fish in a barrel
AOLQ should be on every FAC issued to experienced people
