Update ... just in case it might help anyone else out!
Tried various things including anti biotic and ear/stinky stuff but to no avail so I decided to try the good old apple cider vinegar as I know it works on many human skin conditions, after only a few days of applying twice a day it had cleared up 50% of it and after 3 weeks it had all gone and the hair had grown back.
I believe it was mites but will never know but atleast I know a good healthy treatment if it returns..
The mutt will be hoping it comes back as she got a bit of venison Jerky every time I applied it haha
