Custom and Semi custom rifle photos/porn

Mine aren’t - my 16 over 7x65r has accounted for lots of game over the years. It was built in Ferlach by Hambrusch for a German industrialist who fell of tax law and ran off with his gun collection to Namibia, where the same happened again and he ended dying up in a Namibian gaol. Holts picked up his collection from wherever he had them stored. I bought this at auction in 2009 and it was virtually unused. Still lots of storage wax all over it. I wrote a cheque for just over £1,000 for it - that included all the commissions etc. And its used regularly for both deer stalking, but also if out for a potter after phaesant, ducks, woodcock etc.

And its refreshing to see it in the field rather than just as a firearm laying on a table or on a bench.

One semi, and two semi semi's..!! I never set out to customise anything, but things wear out over the years and obviously need replacing, form and function play a big part too.! I don't own anything that's not used, that really wouldn't sit well with me lol

First up is my beloved Tikka M595. I've owned and constantly used this action for well over twenty years, out numerous nights a week. It currently has a bartlein #4 barrel at 24" (22-250) and is sat in a Mcmillan A3-5 stock piller and glass bedded. Trigger is a two stage timney, mod is a jet cqb, mount is a sphur, and the scope is a S&B Polar T96 4-16x56

Second rifle is another M595, 308 this time. Used predominantly for woodland roe, but kept my options open regarding calibre.! Original factory barrel, chopped to 18", bead blasted and re cut M15x1. It as a two stage timney trigger, sat in a Mcmillan Sako hunter stock piller and glass bedded. Mod is a jet compact, mounts are teir one, scope is a leica magnus 2.4-16x56

Third and final rifle.! This f@#k ugly thing is a Tikka T3 22.250, recently bought off of here from the nicest of gents. Bought purely as a thermal set up to aid me with some very tricky foxes.! Original barrel (19") and trigger, sat in a MDT LSS chassis. I opted for this to provide a good fit for the thermal. My other two stocks have a 13" length of pull, this is 12.5", nice and snug, also I was able to get a good cheek weld due to the fully adjustable pad on the SCS. Scope is a Hik Micro thunder TQ50, mod is the cqb off the other 22.250, slot available for another 👀

The 6.5x47 I showed above printed this with 123 grain Scenar Home loads:

I get results akin to this on a boringly regular basis - not that I’m complaining like!

As an update and as a bit of a recommendation if people are looking for a tuner.

I’ve today had my 6.5 out punching paper, practicing and testing now the doe/hind season is over and I have more time now the stalking is less of a focus.

I’ve been setting up (properly) the EC tuner I purchased a while back, after having poor results when moving to a muzzle brake from a mod (example of the mods group shown above, with the brake moving it to around 1/2-3/4” with the same load).

After going through 5 settings I shot this group, along with another 4-5 sub 0.25” groups to prove it was a fair reflection.

Safe to say the tuner works brilliantly and compliments @ronin’s work perfectly.

Hopefully I can show this rifles ability later in the season at the next PRS match, as it’ll only be myself that is to blame if I don’t, that’s for sure!
