The separate rail in (2.) clamps to the action dovetail with lateral bolts just like conventional rings.
The rail & scope ring assembly in (1.) attaches by quick release levers also working on the dovetails, but there is a single countersunk bolt-hole in the rail where the action ring & bridge are located.
I have a few questions on these. Are these provided to attach the separate 'scope rings, with no other purpose?
What I was wondering is whether the two top bolts provided brace the rail in any way (via the dovetail) or penetrate the metal of the action? In that case the action would need to be drilled & tapped, and there'd be blanking screws to remove. This sounds unlikely, but just asking a detailed what's what.
