CZ 527 scope mounting issues.

That's a new one on me. How did you attach the rail?

I've never seen a CZ527 action drilled & tapped for base mounts, as CZ provide integral dovetails. Tell me more.

You can buy a dovetail to rail adaptor then fit whatever rings you want to them.

Two options: (I use the first)

1. One piece
2. Base

Hi Sinistral
the rail slips over the existing mounts and is grub screwed through the top. Very neat and not much higher.
Ive just fitted some low Windage adjustable rings to accommodate a photon extreme. And have bolt clearance.
Steve.

The grub screws bite down onto the original dovetails, the best thing is the new rail takes normal rings.

Thankyou both. I haven't seen Kozap kit before.

The separate rail in (2.) clamps to the action dovetail with lateral bolts just like conventional rings.

The rail & scope ring assembly in (1.) attaches by quick release levers also working on the dovetails, but there is a single countersunk bolt-hole in the rail where the action ring & bridge are located.

I have a few questions on these. Are these provided to attach the separate 'scope rings, with no other purpose?

What I was wondering is whether the two top bolts provided brace the rail in any way (via the dovetail) or penetrate the metal of the action? In that case the action would need to be drilled & tapped, and there'd be blanking screws to remove. This sounds unlikely, but just asking a detailed what's what.:-|

The Kozap 1 piece mount (with rings) has a locating lug which engages with the hole in the receiver and makes for a very positive location. I use that one and it returned smack on zero any time I've had to remove the rail and scope for cleaning/maintenance. Its a very good solid product and the rings did not require lapping nor do they mark the scope.

The rail adaptor importantly allows the location of the scope to give more or less eye relief depending on the scope and used in conjunction with low to medium rise mounts will provide all the clearance you need for any scope.

Both are a good, tried and tested design for the 527. No need for anything else imho.
