Many thanks for the link. The traders attending with knives have been made aware (although most already knew the requirements) of the issues and will be reminded again to ensure the paperwork is in order on receipt of payment for trade stands.

The Scottish Business Crime Centre have also been in touch wanting to offer a survey and an award (if up to standard) for responsible trading given some of the products that will be on display. It will be the first time that such recognition will be awarded to a Fair and the results are reported to the Scottish Government. It would be nice to get a feather in the cap for people who trade in such goods and are occasionally subjected to criticism in the press...

I would also like to take this chance to offer a big thank you to Paul, at Scott Country for his help in using a bit of 'clout' in raising the profile of the Fair through articles that will be run in a couple of the major fieldsports publications (details to follow once completed).

Although the fair is taking a similar form to any other gamefair (although as promised deerstalking specific traders and exhibitors), it has become very evident that our community of stalkers and those in the trade supplying equipment for stalkers are very much a supportive community. The feedback and favourable comments have been fantastic. We have tried to put on a fair for stalkers that we would want to attend ourselves and didn't want 20 trade stands selling rifles and nothing else there. So we hope that now every aspect of stalking will be represented by at least one stand. From what I am hearing it has the makings of being a good social event as well!

Despite some of the horror stories we read about on here (thankfully few and far between) it has been an enjoyable experience organising this and speaking to all those involved, albeit with an slightly underestimated work load!

anyone know of any nice b&b's or hotels in the area, or is it pot luck,

there are several hotels in Kelso area as well as around the area. I have been in touch with a few regarding deals for traders attending and once they are sorted out there will no doubt be rooms left they will be quite happy to offer to the public attending. I will pop the details back on here once they are sorted as well as some advice as to where else to look. probably get that done next week...

Cluny Clays also confirmed as attending now and despite what the name suggests they carry a large stock of Sako, Tikka (plus others) quality optics and clothing.

I will make sure that we have a good number of the group there it will be put forward as a trip. I will see you there John and the rest.

Hello,

We are considering exhibiting at the Deerstalking Fair in March in Kelso, Scottish Borders.

http://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.u...-24-March-2013

The organisers seem very nice, and especially keen for us to come, and as The Stalking Directory will have a stand we are keen to come along and support the event, and bring some special offers, and new night vision kit for visitors to play with, as well as our usual product line relating to deerstalking.

Being honest it's a smaller event than we usually attend so would ask if people would be so kind as to acknowledge whether they are intending to visit the event or not, to give us an idea if it will be worthwhile for us.

I appreciate the event is brand new, and it is hard to tell, but for us to take time out our otherwise very busy week, particularly with our catalogue development in full swing, it would need to be a worthwhile event, and would ask humbly if you guys have an opinion?

Best Regards

Paul

yes,,surprised you heard that, tried to keep that quiet to avoid hurting your feelings ;-) that weekend with black ice in mid Dec!!!, had to brake for a 3 car pile up and ended up in a tree, a big one too..., getting it back this week with a new wing, new trim, new suspension, new bumper corner, new wishbones, new alloy, new tyre, new ball rod joint...good thing is it's all nice parts and a matching wing/trim, so should be no sign of anything..

just couldn't bear letting insurance write it off, fell in love with it so just couldn't bear to let those buggers do that, so paying the price in cash instead :D

been enjoying your old tina turner and classic rock CD copies under the drivers seat:-D...were you hiding them there? LOL..

look forward to seeing you again soon.

Spoke to SNH today. They are promoting their 'Best Practice' guide at the Fair, and also a carcass preparation demonstration (2 per day), which will allow for some to get their 'hands dirty', while others profess to be experts, stand back and nod knowingly!!

I also have to ensure that there are now 4 beasts (shot in time to keep fresh for the fair) to use in the demo...

Scott Country also confirmed as attending.

The website is currently being revamped by a web designer. Once it's finished and up and running I will post that on here so folk can have a read at who is coming and what they will be bringing...
