Doctors Fee for FAC

Jesus 😮 that is seriously taking the urine... my last one was £50, funnily enough if you require self funded clerical services from your GP there is no "call at 8am tmrw morning" or waiting... it was ready to collect one hour after I dropped the forms off - that alone speaks volumes of just how screwed up our GP practices have been allowed to get.
Charging £200 is quite literally daylight robbery, be sure to leave them a relevant online review 👍

So am I, by your 'liking' my response to your post.
I'm interested to know which bits you like.

Especially, though, I wonder whether you agree with my comments on your employer's historical and ongoing position on this tiresome subject, as well as liking them?
Gentlemen, may I draw your attention to the following:
K
😁

Unless the marker gets linked to an NHS number or the entire health service is overhauled and one system covers everything (never going to happen) then it's just paying a fee for the sake of paying a fee and does nothing for public protection🤬🤬
Exactly, GPs are no better that hospital consultants in the 'not fk ing up' department.
Agreed that our entire health system needs reforming, from dentists to surgery - my wifes worked in the NHS for 12 years now, what with merging trusts, regular changes to I.T and record systems that plunge staff into chaos on a regular basis.. I'm sick to the stomach with all of it, so is my aunt who is in next week for a 12 hour operation to have half her fkin jaw removed because they cancelled FOUR yes FOUR of the straight to test cancer appointments!

In summary- If I happened across a GP who was on fire and all I had about my person to deal with such an issue was a full bladder....

So, who is looking forwards to £400 fees to reflect the true cost of processing a FAC application? I doubt the current fees even cover the cost of an FEO visit.

I paid £50 for the 7.5T medical, that included an eyesight test. I don't see that merely accessing records should cost any more.

I was prescribed, by the practice nurse, painkillers last Spring because I was having pain in one hip.
In about mid-December, I stopped taking them because the pain had gone. On Xmas day, I had a panic attack. It gradually wore off after a few days. It turned out that the medication was actually a low-dose anti-depressant that works as a painkiller, Amitriptyline that you should be weaned off gradually. Nobody told me! Should not be taken by anyone who has considered suicide! This is going to be interesting on my next renewal in 3 year's time.

Many years ago, I had an intercostal muscle issue which affected my breathing slightly but worse, it made golf very difficult. Anyhow, a consultant said a mild scoliosis was causing this and that my brain had accepted the alteration so would not rectify it and this was therefore causing the pain. He prescribed a drug called Gabapentin. When I read up about it and some issues quite a few people had had, I just refused to take it.

After a few months, the pain went and my muscle group below my ribs sorted itself out and I have had no issues since. Seems my brain got itself in gear after all.

I always treat drugs with a degree of skepticism when they can affect the brain. It is easy for docs to dish stuff out but sometimes it is worth just letting that old chestnut "time" sort some stuff out.

Hopefully your hip is good and I expect your renewal will be fine but I would contact your doctor and speak to him about it come medical time to discuss it with him first rather than just getting him to fill out the form on his own.
