Went for the assessment only this weekend with the BDS and passed, now just to wait for the certificate :)

Can I be the first on the forum to congratulate you?...The bonus Is that you did the course with one under your belt...Well done

Well done, from many of your other posts I doubt anyone on here had any doubts that you were going to fly that course.

Did mine at Wadhurst with Mr Howard. Interesting Character. Good course, and Chris was a very knowledgable and informative.

The assessment only is an excellent option for those who are looking to save some money or can't afford 4 days off work. I have had the Ultimate Deer Data disc from BDS for about a year and have been studying it about 3-4 times a week, on the run up to DSC1 I was doing about an hour a day going through the mock tests and reading up on the safety assessment.

On the days of the assessment I was made to feel very welcome and found the written sections and recognition were relatively easy thanks to the study I had done with the UDD disc.

This was bourne out by 19/20 for recognition, 40/40 meat handling and 48/50 for general knowledge.

The safety test was very well conducted with the assessors putting everyone at ease during what a number of us felt was the most testing part of the assessment.

The one thing I would do differently is to get a lot more centre fire practice in before going on the course. I would reccomend anyone doing assessment only or indeed the full course finds a way to practice with a centre fire rifle regularly before going as I had to have two attempts on the deer target to scrape a pass and this has shown me I need a lot more practice on paper before going stalking.

All in all the course was very well run and professionally administered and I would highly reccomend the assessment only option to those short of cash or time off, it really was an excellent experience

I did my DSC1 at Wadhurst with Chris Howard also. Fantastic course and I was really impressed with Chris and the team also.

Well done Adjman!!

That takes some courage to admit and demonstrates a commendable approach.

Did mine with Chris about 25 years after I should have and even if it was only about getting carcases into the food chain I don’t regret one minute of it.

Well done

Well Done - the shooting must have been a dose of nerves Adam , we both know you can shoot fine and dandy!

Cheers, yes, nerves were a factor there and I think the rifle may have been shooting slightly low for me and I forgot to adjust for it on the second go ;)

My certificate arrived yesterday evening :)
