I’m definitely looking at Swarovski scopes. My only reservation is fitting a night vision addon to the odd shaped ocular.
I wouldn't put NV on Swarovski. I don't know about the new digital units, but my Starlight Archer that I've has for 10 years or so really doesn't like expensive scopes with lots of coatings on them. I tried it on Swaro, Nightforce and S&B and the light was "dirty". Oddly enough it loves Sightron S3 which is what I've stuck with on the foxing rifle.
At 14oz the Swaro Z3 4-12x50 is a great scope for woodland stalking and at 16oz my Z5 3.5-18x44 is a cracking scope for the hill. I don't like carrying more weight than I have to if I have the rifle on my back for hours on end.
Out of interest Nigel, have you tried the NV on the Z3 with the newer laser illuminators like the Solaris SRX and other variants etc?
Totally agree, I came to the same conclusionIt's a rabbit hole I have been down too many times. In the end I have given up, as compromise doesn't give you the right result for anything.
Target rifle - heavy to absorb recoil and allow you to see the bullet strike. FFP scope dialled up to 20 plus with a tactical reticule matched to the turrets so you can measure and adjust at all zoom ranges, multi turn turrets with zero stop, good glass.
Hunting rifle - light weight so you can carry it all day. SFP scope so I can always clearly see the reticule at any zoom level. Goes down to 3x zoom, clean reticule, single turn turret with zero stop as I don't need to go beyond 500 yds, fantastic glass.
You've already got the Stryker as a bloody good LR scope on a target rifle. I would be looking for a Swaro Z5 or Z6 with BT and the 4W reticule for the hunting rifle which is a compromise but workable for LR but exceptional for hunting.
Which Sightron s3?
As far as I can see, Max under £1000. They have a 34mm tubed 5-30x56 that looks very interesting FFP. My concern is that they are based on the lower end range rather than the R2/ZD glass. The specs look amazing, just hope the glass can back it upThank you for the heads up on Optika 6 range
Big meopta fan already and same as OP thinking of a dual purpose scope
Wait to see what prices will be !!

I haven't. Do you think that's cured the problem?
In all honesty I bought the Archer about 10 years ago, changed the laser that came with it to a powerful LED torch, fiddled with scopes until I found the Sightron and have been so pleased with the set up I have not looked for an alternative since. I can see a set of eyes a long way off and can clearly ID a fox at 300m which is about as big as most of the fields around here so don't need much else.
No idea whether the digital NV scopes suffer the same problem as the tubes as I said above.

I see they are based on meopro range?
I’ve not used that ones ... I’m guessing others have .... I believe the ffp 5x30 has ED glass used in it to an extent as well .
Those features for £1000 max I don’t expect it to be full on swaro or other equivalent ... let’s face it those scopes with similar vein are all £2k plus
But the gap in the last few years between high end glass and lower stuff has shrunk & some cases the glass is not far off but for 1/2 price....
Look forward to seeing them these

Tract optics have had some good reviews and have a Precision Rifle orientated scope called the . Schott glass too

What little I’ve read are excellent reviews but your dealing with them direct .... how does that work if repair needed and send it back ....?
With regard to return ... heard horror stories of guys sending kit back to USA for repair then getting nailed on import tax again on way back from repair?
