Effective, who knows

As if this makes a difference. People when they had a chance didn't turn up to vote and even if another election was called, the turnout won't be any different. So apart from wasting more money I very much doubt if this will make any difference. Best to let labour run its course so that they can be voted out with no chance of return for the next few decades. Sometimes you need to go through enough pain for a generation to remember to turn up to vote. 300k out of almost 67 million is 0.45%

Every government comes up short on what they outlined pre election. 14 years of conservative government who gave us 24 tax increases, a terrible Brexit deal, increased legal and illegal Imigration and gave us two Prime Ministers that we never even voted for and one of them was Liz Truss Good luck with your petition

About as much use as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest. They would have more luck with a petition calling for voting in a GE to be compulsory, though not sure the result would have been any different.
I seem to recall over a number of recent general elections, people protesting the result in a manner akin to a bratty child’s howls of “It’s not fair!”
We live in a democracy and we are lucky in that we get to vote, however we are also unlucky that so do the complete morons that walk amongst us.
For the record, it is not the result that I wished for, but I just have to suck it up for the next four and a half years and remain positive that there won’t be another five years after that.

Funny isn't it?
When we had the Brexit referendum some people didn't like the outcome of the vote, and suggested it ought to be re-run. General feeling in this site was that they were a bunch of bed wetters, and should just suck it up and accept democracy.
Now we've had a general election, and some people don't like the outcome, and are suggesting another election.
Presumably, these people are a bunch of bed wetters too?

The level of hypocrisy on this site is staggering at times!

Brexit referendum: People voted for Brexit and got Brexit. Losers didn’t like it and wanted second referendum.
2024 election: People voted for Labour manifesto promising no tax rises, protection of the countryside, voters to keep more of their money and a lighter touch government, much higher economic growth and growth the be paramount, politicians acting with complete integrity - and got massive tax rises, incredibly sleazy and corrupt politicians, widespread industrialisation of the countryside, the economy trashed, rising unemployment - large scale redundancies, reduced investment, class warfare, energy security destroyed, racist MPs being acceptable, and an HR lawyer leader aligning the UK with concentration camps and terrorism as acceptable.

There is a category difference between people who lost a vote on an issue fair and square, and people disgruntled about having voted for A and got Z.
