Electric 4x4’s ?

I see this whilst in London today, I’m guessing the humongous aluminium thing that sits low to the ground is a motor?
Looks vulnerable to damage and so low it’s bound to ground out easily, anyone tried one of these in the sticky stuff?

Does anyone else watch mutch from that canafian fella, Edison trucks.
Theyre building electric logging trucks as well as heavy haul and drilling well rigging trucks.

Their also working on retro fitting kits for pick ups.
Stick 2 electric axles in and either use the engine or stick a smaller generator motor in instead and it powers the batteries.

From wot ive seen seems to be working and seems a far cleaver idea esp for rural pick ups/work horses.

"Ford to scale back electric vehicle plans, taking $19.5bn hit."

Says it all, they aren't selling like they envisaged!

There's been a few articles lately where the EU are now considering pushing back the ban on Petrol / Diesel vehicles to 2040.

Not one to miss an opportunity to lie, the BBC is reporting it as being scaled back to 2035....

The reason, the German high end manufacturers have applied lobbying pressure to the EU and aren't willing to take the financial hit on a con project anymore.

I'm sure Comrade Starmer will instead bring everything forward to please his WEF & Blackrock paymasters.

The way its being built is interesting what I don't know is exactly how power is delivered to the ground. I run Komatsu mining trucks with electric wheel motors and I assure you when it gets slick they can be treacherous.

‘Fire’ sale coming?

So much for Energiewende, so
much for Sanctions, so much for Nordstream 2;
Hubris, Groupthink, and of course - the EU..
Didn’t even get a ‘shot’ at turning their Beetles and Lupos into Panthers or Tigers..

Is there really no ‘alternative for Germany’? 🤔

I appreciate it isn’t a pick up but I have a Polaris Kinetic and it is brilliant. Used for farm, shoot and stalking tasks. Fast, virtually silent and great off road which is everything my previous Kubotas were not!

His still was brilliant, he just used the same principle of what really big plant uses. It used a diesel generator to power 4 motors on each hub. The torque you can get is huge.

Cheers rob

The Ranger Kinetic Premium is not cheap though, £29k without a cab I believe, the petrol models are about £18k. And you have to be careful about going through water and pressure washing.
I do like the idea of the "silent running".

EU ban on new internal combustion engine (ICE) cars from 2035, aiming for zero-emission new vehicles, though recent reports suggest this might be watered down to allow low-emission fuels like synthetic fuels, potentially keeping some ICE development alive with stricter CO2 targets. Essentially, new petrol/diesel car sales cease by 2035, pushing towards EVs/hydrogen, but exceptions for e-fuels are emerging, creating a shift in the original strict "stop".
