Electronic fox callers

Have you been out and tried again with the caller since starting this thread dawnbreaker?
i was out last tuesday had nothing to the caller, but one came to some cat food on a post, but spooked off of something not to be seen again
i then went for a walk and spotted one working a hedge row which came to a mouth call enough for me to shoot it
and walked onto another one i spotted coming out of a ditch. it didnt even know i was there. i didnt stop it with a shout, just waited for it to stop and BANG lights out number 2
What im saying is keep going with the caller but try other things as well
I've called them in the same perms with mouth and hand calls they just won't come to the caller its getting weird lol

Yeah was out on Friday night on 2 perms I've shot a seen foxes on but no joy, I was out from around 9 till 01:30 and not even a heat signature, tucked into cover wind in my face, calls tried were rabbit distress 1 and 2 , mouse, rat, vixen and vixen mating call at vary volume levels 😫😫😫
Sorry didn't try mating call but I'm gonna this wk

A squeaky toy, guess I'm for the pet shop today, I've called in a shot foxes using hand and mouth calls in the same places im using the electric caller u just can't understand why they wont come to the caller 🤷
If theve been called in by someone else and the shot missed, they learn very fast whats a danger, Ive seen many out at a distance called them and they have taken off like a rocket once theyve been educated you need to try other methods, pipe baiting sitting and waiting an hour before dark they all work

I've experienced this also...saw foxy and fired up rat distress (most successful call for me so far) and off he went like a polaris!! Didn't stop to collect 200£ nor did he do that last minute stop and look. He an educated boy 😆

They are the ones that usually migrate onto my patch, I wish I could find out who keeps doing it!!

No one has permission for my perms, I'm on very regular and would've seen someone and I'm definitely not educating them gonna have to try baiting

Anyone else on sd have zero joy with callers , been using one for a yr tried everything, different ground , calls , volume distances , time etc zero joy, its more a pian in the hole now to go and put it out stand for 2 hrs then go and pick it back up ffs, I'm using gc500 gen1,
I have found callers a bit hit or miss to be honest as you have i have sat with them for hours and seen nothing probably over use of callers as stated found no rhyme or reason for fox habits , shot them day time when not expected
And tried baiting with a better success, also depends on what the permission has to offer them .

Good Luck Brian

I got a fox call about 6 months ago and zero success through the harvest but these two came galloping in to the mating call last night. The first one came with in a few meters of the call before heading out a bit and then settled on my shout to get the shot. Despite me becoming a bit sceptical of the caller, it clear works this time of the year in my area.

Ill be trying that call next time out 🦊🦊

still no joy dawnbreaker?
rookyshot were they both dogs?
i was out Thursday night got two 1 to cat food the other was in the wrong place at the right time lol
caller not really working at mo its a bit hit and miss but keep going with it and it will happen

I think that most of the foxes that are shy of a caller have had a 'near death experience'. We've seen it on one of my permissions where the neighbouring farmer is reported to 'Do a bit of foxing now and then'. Foxes that come from that way are FAR more cautious, and are lamp and caller shy, whereas those that come in from elsewhere are far more bold and consequently tend to "fall over" more often.
I'm pretty certain that what the neighbour is doing is he's shooting near foxes rather than directly at them ;)
