Had a friend with a Ruger number 1 on the hinds he could reload it as quick as I could work a bolt.
My last Mrs was the same using a 6mm Rem Ruger no 1. 4 Hinds 4shots quicker than I killed the other 3 with bolt action.

Yes, the Ruger No. 1 and Winchester 1885 actions are Hell-for-strong, and very good looking, too.
I wish I could get a Bergara BA13 over here.
This Henry break action is like a revival of the old Winchester and Stevens single shot rifles built on 20 gauge frames as farm guns, to stand behind the kitchen door. They came in .30-30 and .22 Hornet.
This would have been about 3 years or so ago. Had a hammer extension added. I traded it in in Sussex.didnt sell it to me did you?!
I bought one
18" barrel
rechambered it to .222!
Think the cheap one (As new) was mine, it didn’t sell here.At the risk of repeating myself, Bergara BA13.
Under £500 new, ( think the last second hand one on here was £200 )
I had a Thompson Encore Prohunter in 223 cal. from Rimfire Magic. I managed to get a 243 barrel for it from USA.I tried to get a TC Encore prohunter in 308 about 7 years ago through Viking Arms, I think. Lovely short rifle, very pointable. Saw it on their stand at the Brit Shooting Show, and fell in love.
Unfortunately, despite me showing an awful lot of interest I never received any reponse from the importer, despite a number of attempts.
You can sometimes see one or two via Guntrader, usually in 22lr.
EABCO do replacement barrels. reasonable prices, if you can do the importation faff.

Your right about the trigger. Glad it's got a good home.Tusker, I still have your old Baikal .308, it has an old Swarovski 4x scope on it now and is my cast bullet gun, 170grn flat nose gas check. The worlds worst trigger, but I like it! A genuine entry level single shot rifle, chrome lined, hammer forged barrel, what is not to like?
Ruger #3 in 45/70 On my wish list I have one in 22 Hornet he needs a bigger brother ...I have a Ruger No. 3 and a Handi Rifle both in 45/70 - Didn't cost too much and are great fun to shoot
The Bergara website does not even show the BA13 for the USA. So far, I have found no dealers, none for sale.
But the Bergara HQ for the USA is within driving distance of me ( I was only 70 miles from it it this weekend ), so I will call them.
I was able to order a Steyr Mannlicher in a configuration not in the US catalog, by directly contacting their HQ in Alabama, so it is worth the effort.
