Favorite fox rifle

What's your favorite rifle and caliber for fox. Am not one to shoot out to 400yards at night. My usual distance is probably 100yards. And I must like my sako85 223. I've owned a few rifles as you do when your young and like to try different things. But this one is good. Had it over 10 years and the 20" barrel and set trigger. Also the jet-z moderator. Teamed with nosler 50 grain ballistic tip. It's served me well.

I use my .243 and quite happy with that, but if I was in the market for a dedicated fox rifle it would be a .22-250

.243 and 75 grain Vmax... very flat, fast & and arrives with authority. Very rarely get a runner with that combo even if shots a wee bit off at night.

do like the 223 xbolt i got ,but got a 22-250 barrel for my r8 ,and find myself using that all the time now .

I use the 22H , 222 and the 204 all a lot

If I had to chose i don’t think i could as they all perform superbly at different ranges

The 204 has the advantage on a very looooong shot capability more so than the faithfull duece i guess

The 204 is so so accurate it does the job with ease and will go farther than I shoot i think my best still is 260 mtrs with a swaro on its back at dawn -crystal clear scope view
The 204 is a great foxing calibre albiet slightly on the loud side compared to a 222, 260 mtrs is too far me normally I put the cross hair an inch above its back and it dropped on the spot, thats a hellof a shot for me, mi like em 200 or less especially with nv

204 for me as well, As you say the scope doesn't leave the target when you pull the trigger

If it's got a super short extraction hole than it'll be fine or fully controlled extraction and input. mine can't extract properly. Have to single feed and roll the rifle over to extract the spend case.

It is a super great round, almost no powder use and so so quiet..
