Favorite fox rifle

Fair lump of a fox that one @Foxyboy43 :thumb:
Yep - an absolute brute! In the “Out last night” thread I suggested that who ever assembled foxes put the wrong size head on it!
It was number 17 on a smallholding which had substantial lamb losses (12) earlier this year so be interesting to see how this years lambing goes…

Had a 22/250 595 tikka for years loved it shot it out replaced it with a.243 t3 shot good with it but never really liked the .243 moved to a t3 .223 really like much quieter to it lacks the omph of the 22/250 but a bit with an alpex 4k lrf on top it doesn’t really matter there’s no guesswork anymore anyway

No pictures I'm afraid, but for fox I switch between my T3x .223 using 53g V-Max or my T3x .243 using 58g V-Max. The .223 is zeroed at 180 yards and the ,243 zeroed at 200. The 53g and 58g V-Max are fast, flat and deadly on fox.

Mine😁

Tikka t3 lite stainless .223 with adjustable sporter stock. Pulsar trail 2 xq50 lrf, SL5i 223 mod.

Foxes don’t like it, neither does the local hunt master😂😂😂

For those that have shot a few different chamberings, is there a noticeable step up from 17 REM to 223 to 22/250 in terms of foxes reactions? I have shot 17Rem and 22/250 but never 223. My 17 now needs a new tube so I’m considering which way to jump….

If it were me I'd rebarrel it in 204

Been using a 243 for years but got myself another 223 as I missed having one for foxing this is the tikka roughtec with a Steiner on top but going to pick a new HIC Alpex up tomorrow and be dedicated foxing set up and the Steiner going on my 243.

I’ve the same in .308

I have shot foxes with all my rifles, but the one I reach for the most for foxing is my Schmeisser SP15 with a 14.5" barrel in.223.
