Fitting same scope on different rifles

I’m thinking of buying the nocpix nite d70r (when available) and switching it between 3 rifles - 22 rimfire, 17hmr & 6.5x55. Looking for advice on best mounting method for ease of switching scope between rifles ! Picatinny rails or is there a better / different method?

The first question, in my head, is why.
Yes, if necessary I would go Picatinny rail.
But really, I don’t understand, unless money is tight, why anyone would need to.
Ideally, get a second scope. If there is a valid reason, then Picatinny rail with decent mounts.

I have a very nice scope I got as part of a trade that came with QR mount by Spuhr and two spare sets of turret caps.
The chap who put it together was intending to do just what you described.
There are several companies making replacement caps or you could just use turret tape

Spuhr QR picatinny on my NV scopes, swap them between 3 rifles, works a treat and amazing how it keeps zero. My NV scope has multiple profiles, just need to remember to change them. I use a blob of yellow nail varnish to mark the mount positions.

And why? Saves me buying 3 scopes, I can only use one rifle at a time.

I can see the logic behind it and the scope should support multiple zero profiles but, you are putting a lot of faith into the system by swapping between 3 rifles. Are you going to recheck zero each time you swap?

I’d buy the same picanttiny rails for all rifles and then use a quality mount, preferably one piece. I’m a big fan of steel tactical rings such as Badger, then tighten with a torque wrench.

Hi,
Moneys not tight but I’m not going to buy the same scope 3 times when it is designed with different profiles to do exactly what I’m intending to do.

Exactly that, thank you 👍

I would check zero after swapping yes, just to be certain. That’s easy enough for me to do 👍

I run a thermal on multiple rifles. Have for a few years. I run a inno mount QR on the thermal.
Spend a bit of time on the range swapping back and forth to make your self happy with the system and you'll be golden.
The most important part is making sure you do the same thing every time, forward pressure on scope as you tighten the mounts ect..

Thermals with the ability to store different profiles for differing calibres lend themselves well to this. Glass scopes less so, but if you are going to do it I can recommend Leupold QR mounts and bases. Not the easiest to get in the UK for some fits but well made. Leupold state no more than .5 MOA shift between re-mounts but they’ve never shown any variation at all when I’ve used them (they’re torqued to spec and come with picture already on the ring screws). Cost about £75.

I swap my Alpex between three rifles, 22lr, 17hmr and 6.5, I use Sportsmatch one piece quick release mount on the scope and a picatinny rail on each rifle. I find it works very well, you just need to check you have selected the correct profile to the rifle your using.
