So I always used to use a .223 but with a 1:12 twist it would only stabilise 55 grn bullets. So with the impending move away from lead to copper I’m now loading heavier bullets for my .243 and have consequently sold my .223.
There will still be vermin ammunition that is lead based....and projectiles .. unless your permission requires non-lead use?

Are you eating them!!!

22 hornet or 12 bore shotgun are my fox grabs depending on location. However I have probably shot as many with 243 win as that was my main deer rifle for many years and killed a lot of foxes with it as a result. Taken some real long ones in daylight

Mainly use 204 and 223 for fox. Also use the 243. 243 fairly hammers them. But on small shoots etc. I go for the other two cals.

.222 + 53gr Vmax handloads
.223 + 40gr Vmax handloads
.243 + 85gr Sierra hpbt handloads
Just switched to 40gr Vmax from 55gr SP to prevent pass throughs on a small permission and found them very effective out to 200yds.

I’m toying with the idea of one at the moment as have a new caliber itch that need scratching.!!!

I haven’t long done the same thing, had an itch for a swift for years, finally got a good deal on a ruger 77 VT a few months back and it s been great

Running 40gr nosler varmageddons at an impressive 4600fps, vaporises Corvids and knocks over foxes lovely
