Freyr and Devik

I have an F&D mod on my 243, I just took it apart to clean it for the first time since I bought it last year, it has probably fired 200-250 rounds.

Looks like gas cutting to me, not happy as I too thought it had titanium internals.
I dread to think what that looks like under the tube, assuming you can remove it? Why did you not do any cleaning as per the instructions??? That looks a mess!

I was told when the baffles where replaced that it’s the gases corroding it so I just clean it and leave it open/apart in the cabinet.
Sofar

just to update I had the mod for a year or 2 and cleaned it every 10 shots or so. It didn’t happen after the first 5-8 shots.

here’s the pictures of mine.

Again, I find it weird that the damage seems to be to the outside of the baffle stack, not the inside where I would expect it.
I wonder long much corrosion these things can take before you get a structural failure and detrimental performance.
I'm interested having just acquired F&D's heaviest mod, the 269.

I was trying to get an F&D but was let down by a supplier, so I ended up going with a DPT and added the extra titanium baffle, I have put exactly 200 rounds through it so will pull it apart and photograph it later and see how it looks...I will post them so people can see how it has faired.

Gixer

Does the tube come off or has it welded in place?
It came off fairly easily with a bit of a twist.

Looks a bit better now and actually apart from that on bit of damage its in good nick, probably better than yours I think.

I may not clean my mods but I always spray them through from both ends with a small anmount gun cleaner after every use to try to keep corrosion at bay. I think the damage to mine is gas cutting from the muzzle blast not from corrosion.

What was the fix from the Cluny people?

Had the Sauer version ( Same as F&D just more money!!) its on a 300wm in the first week it would not zero found internal thread had come lose and I couldn’t get the body to unscrew, sent back to Steve at Ivythorn ( Good guy good customer service) he got it sorted it’s been fine since I clean the bore part of it after use and do the internal baffles occasionally. On a number of reviews ”uncleaned” mods outperform clean ones, I am not sure that’s always true but I don’t think they need to be over cleaned

Any news of an 'all-titanium internals' model coming out?

Basically they're a lighter weight consumable, as compared to a consumable, it seems.

Took the mod off - I don’t clean my mod other than taking it apart and coating the threads and o-rings with bisley gun grease... and me section needed a tweak with my super dooper strap wrenches, but very little...looks good and I’m happy with my decision to go DPT.

And now the other side, (away from the crown) I wiped one module and it shows very slight pits. Nothing on the borehole but more on the surface.

it's supposed to come off but mine has stuck in place.

I normally disassemble and give a quick spray and clean after every outing (assuming gun is fired), but forgot after a zeroing session and can't get it to move now.
I know that it comes off, I was worried that one would have welded itself on through not being removed and cleaning etc

Good post. I was considering one of these as a next mod but I won’t bother now. As has been said good marketing.
