Gap in the cabinet?

Renewal time and as always mulling over the cabinet. If I’m going to pay all that cash and jump through all those hoops I might as well maximise value and efficiency by including any additions I have good reason for.

So, friends, thoughts on what’s missing. Not looking to change what I have. Current challenges include roe around populated areas, so something (Scotland) deer legal for roe and quiet is on my mind, and short/ pointy. I have shotties and no desire for FAC shottie or FAC air. No desire for pistols or black powder. 308 is as large a bore as I need and 6.5 creed is fine for the amount of plinking I do.

A treble or 223 maybe? Something short and pointy? Is there a rifle rabbit burrow I’m missing?

22LR - bunnies
220 swift - fox/ roe
6.5 creed - target
308 - woodland deer
6.5-284 - hill deer

You already know 🤣 A nice micro actioned 222 or 223 with 16” barrel and a decent sized silencer with appropriately sized bore to bullet hole through the middle. Just depends on what is available.

I was amazed at the difference in sound signature a 30 cal Ase Utra Jet-Z to 22 cal Ase Utra SL5 made.

Nice collection, you just need to get a proper calibre now 270 👍

I have a spectacular 223 in the classifieds, but I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that you're a 17 hornet light. no mines not for sale. If you're going to get a 6.5 for targets a Tiltac is hard to beat for several times the money, and with a Bix N Andy trigger is a true AI killer. Or if you fancy a build, a 22 Creedmoor = 80gr @3500fps just saying

I’d say a 222 (or 223) as a close(r) range .22 for foxes and roe. If it was legal, I might even say hornet.

I also have a 6PPC which is a stupidly accurate cartridge that takes well to an 18” barrel. Would no doubt make a good roe rifle up North.

I’d certainly look for a more compact rifle in the 1,100 to 1,300 ft/lb range to compliment the Swift.

223 for cheap ammo and a ton of fun to shoot. A 223 always goes with me when I leave the house and head to the family farm.

You can never have too many 223s, especially suppressed.
