Funny that, I have a Ross (the shiny aluminium one) that used to belong to Peter Kirk. His late wife Joy very kindly sold it to me

I think they weren't may have been assembled, but not made in Union St, then later on in the Longman Ind Est? That's where I bought my second (wide angle model) from Colonel Milne, not yesterday!

You may well be correct. I think I'm getting confused with the Dalvey items that are definitely made in Alness.

I don't know if 1657 is the year?. Stamped 'Ross London'. Stitching has gone on the leather, but looks like an easy fix as the leather appears to be sound. Looks too old to be a fake.

I bought one in the summer - nowhere near the hammer price thank god. I can imagine that would have provoked an interesting discussion at home.....

The case on mine needed some restitching - I sent it to Lyn at Gammacks who did a superb job at a very reasonable price.
