Guests v Members

I noticed this morning that there was nearly 400 viewers online, 90 odd members and nearly 300 guests , 3 to 1 ratio , ive just looked again and its a 2 to 1 ratio.
Can a guest visit the site more than once before they have to register, surely a good lot of these guests must be regulars and ought to be made to join.

The guests are people not logging in but also search bots and other automatic trackers. Sometimes a guest may change IP so they may show more than once but that is rare. If they log in they only show once.

Yes but the guests are made up of.
100 police officers / MI6 watching us
100 league against cruel sports watching us.
100 Chris packham fans watching us.

If someone doesn’t wish to register/log in it doesn’t bother me! :D
... but! It dont help when the whole of the NEC petition & Packam know all of bugger all's can visit, view & screenshot freely to their hearts content for their cause. While we pay to support ourselves he add's his name to tree grants already in place & ALSO paid by the rest of us.
Closed site well over due for sure, getting harder to contribute to something everyone can jump in on, fan of our hobby or not.
Rethinking my Site Supporter for the new year, have absolutely no issue supporting our members but not to undo my own hobby.

And off course there are members, well-known members and supporters.

£6 every 3 months is not going to break anyone's bank, but a few more £6's will help the site develop and flourish!

Here’s a longer winded version...

1) Deer stalking is legal and we can talk about it in the open. They are welcome to disagree with us, but that’s it.
2) Going ‘closed forum’ could result in:
  • Members thinking they are safe as it’s closed and posting material that people who are ‘anti’ can get hold of and use.
  • Shutting guests out will divide the number of people (who are new as well as joined) by a large number. People will go elsewhere.
  • How safe do you want it to be? Are you only talking about people logged on? What about people who are ‘anti’ trying to get information or a thief who are logging on? Or are we talking people with FAC only? Who do we pay to check FACs? Who wants to meet in person, with their FAC, just to join a web site?
  • Who wants to/can run a site, in the negative, with only a small amount of FAC’s who choose to join?
3) We want people who are still open minded to read and see what it’s about. We are a number of people (including people who don’t shoot but ‘understand’) that is reducing. If the site is closed it makes it ‘underground’... and easier to convert it from legal to illegal.
4) You are welcome to log off and go elsewhere if you think it’s too open.

:)
