guns siezed

I feel having a firearms ticket has kept many hands in pockets and lips bitten? Where u would have normally reacted in a different mannor?? Or is that the reason u gained your tickets!! When u apply for ur ticket it clearly states rules to follow just as the police have there's ! U haven't been revoked of ur ticket and I'm sure it will all come out in the wash! Havein read this thread and then looked at " Brit hunter" it appears hes sadly our version of the little chav on a street corner moaning abt the stop and search law!! I look forward to hearing abt his case against the police and sure it will make the headlines!!

As part of the responsibility of being a certificate holder is I feel being whiter than white when it comes to potentially falling foul of a law. If you value your hobby / sport enough (as i do), keeping these certificates is essential. If i were in a situation where my domestic life was in such upheaval to warrant the local police attending to resolve it, i would hope i would have had the foresight to see the potential of this, and stow my guns with an RFD whilst informing the local FEO too. That way I would be safely taking the initiative in the shitty situation and preventing any stupid allegations from the other half. Things have to be pretty bad between a couple domestically for the police to be contacted, he should have seen that coming if he was concerned about his weapons! I know from experience as I have attended many 'domestic disputes' over the years as a police officer. The police will not give the weapons back in a hurry of course until a proper investigation has taken place. I would suggest nothing other than full co-operation in that with honesty is the only way if you ever wish to retain your certificates. Otherwise, to be found out telling porky pies would spell the end of your enjoyment of this sport.

Hear, hear !
Commonsense at last. I have been with this much maligned Cumbria force for over 60 years and have had NO problems with them.
Whilst it is not possible to legislate against violence, insanity or even stupidity each application for a firearm will inevitably raise doubts as to the probability of some incident occurring.
For example, we have a local `hot-shot` who boasted of having shot a Fox off the top of a wall at night with the lamp at 300 yards !

With regard to this case there must have been serious misgivings hence the current issues.

sezed guns in cumbria

had a fall out with misses unfortunatley she called police as i had gone out of the house they arrived checked my guns in cabinets all ok next day they landed and siezed weapons in the dispute with misses there was no violence ect just an argument any help would be appreciated where i go with this cumbria police force i have never been in trouble before and now feel treat as a criminal totally ****ed off

I would advise you to contact cumbria police forces fireams dept, and ask them to write to you setting out their reasons for this acton, and then once you receive the letter, write back to them asking them if the intend to revoke you certificate/s, and if so on what grounds, and again ask them to reduce this to writing, in order that you may appeal their actions. This will then allow you to see their position, and them to see your position. I would hope that they would review their decision and return your guns unmarked/undamaged Finally with regard to access to your gun cabinet (I assume someone other than the POlice forcing entry to your cabinet allowed them access), and that is the unauthorised aspect of the breach of your certificate condition. It is worth repeating, that nobody other than yourself should have the keys to your gun cabinet, and be the only person to know where the keys are kept, if this is not the case, than again this a breach of your certificate condition. Good luck

update
the keys were never in anyone elses hand i only have access
had the FEO round last week was very pleased with what he said hopefully will get guns back soon to carry on my sport due to the position of my partner i have requested they are kept elsewhere as having the run in with the police over a completley false allegation i would rather have them out of the house anyhow i must say thanks to cumbria police licensing dept the FEO said there was no reason to revoke my certificates so just wait to here what the ACC says i wait the decision hopefully soon !
