Just a quick write up to say a massive thank you to a great gentleman.
I was fortunate enough to win a prize offered at the H4H shoot at Bisley by a rifle smith. People will know who it is. So I’m not naming any names.
The prize was a re barrel job, and after getting a variation organised I sent some bits inc. a barrel pre chambered off to the person who offered the prize. To cut a very long story short the ‘relationship’ deteriorated after a length of time and after a thread on SD.
Then i I get a PM off Mr Mike Norris from Brock and Norris. ‘ I hear your build has come to a stop’
‘Yes’ I replied.
‘ Get it all to me and Brock and Norris will build the rifle you want’.
‘Wow’. So I managed to get my stuff back eventually to my local RFD who sent it up to Mike. I went up and met the man himself.
’What do you want built’ he said.
‘ I don’t want to take the p**s out of your generosity ‘
‘ I didn’t ask that. What do you want me to build for you’. He said.
So I loved the idea of a classic looking rifle. Wood and blue. Calibre 9.3x62. A classic looking driven hunting rifle or safari rifle.
So...it was left to Mike to work his magic on the build.
Lother Walther heavy sporter barrel fitted to a Mauser 98 style action, walnut stock. He has bedded the action into the stock which he had to tweak a little to make it fit. One of his invisible thread protectors ready for a muzzle brake if required. Trigger done. A really deep traditional blueing to the barrel. Scope bases altered to take bigger base screws. Ready to accept the leupold QD mounts.
I got a phone call Thursday late afternoon.
Your rifle is ready to collect. A little bribery to the other half and we were on our way to Brock and Norris Friday morning.
To say I’m pleased with his work is an understatement.
So Mike, thank you, sir, for a brilliant job on this rifle which you have taken on at your own expense to help out.
I am indebted you.
You have given me faith back in the human race.
