H4H raffle and Brock and Norris.

Just a quick write up to say a massive thank you to a great gentleman.
I was fortunate enough to win a prize offered at the H4H shoot at Bisley by a rifle smith. People will know who it is. So I’m not naming any names.
The prize was a re barrel job, and after getting a variation organised I sent some bits inc. a barrel pre chambered off to the person who offered the prize. To cut a very long story short the ‘relationship’ deteriorated after a length of time and after a thread on SD.

Then i I get a PM off Mr Mike Norris from Brock and Norris. ‘ I hear your build has come to a stop’
‘Yes’ I replied.
‘ Get it all to me and Brock and Norris will build the rifle you want’.
‘Wow’. So I managed to get my stuff back eventually to my local RFD who sent it up to Mike. I went up and met the man himself.

’What do you want built’ he said.
‘ I don’t want to take the p**s out of your generosity ‘
‘ I didn’t ask that. What do you want me to build for you’. He said.
So I loved the idea of a classic looking rifle. Wood and blue. Calibre 9.3x62. A classic looking driven hunting rifle or safari rifle.
So...it was left to Mike to work his magic on the build.
Lother Walther heavy sporter barrel fitted to a Mauser 98 style action, walnut stock. He has bedded the action into the stock which he had to tweak a little to make it fit. One of his invisible thread protectors ready for a muzzle brake if required. Trigger done. A really deep traditional blueing to the barrel. Scope bases altered to take bigger base screws. Ready to accept the leupold QD mounts.
I got a phone call Thursday late afternoon.
Your rifle is ready to collect. A little bribery to the other half and we were on our way to Brock and Norris Friday morning.

To say I’m pleased with his work is an understatement.

So Mike, thank you, sir, for a brilliant job on this rifle which you have taken on at your own expense to help out.
I am indebted you.
You have given me faith back in the human race.

Jon

Why does it seem like so many of the good people in this world all seem to be located in the same place?! I have had work done by Mike on a previous rifle and have nothing but praise. You rifle looks a beauty and almost makes me like wooden stocks . Great result.

I heard about all this hassle and sorry you had such a bad experience with the individual in question (who I’d not ever use based on your experience). But fair play to Mike - stunning rifle and stunning generosity!

Off to see him in a couple of weeks about a new build myself :)

That post is worth at least 12 months advertising in the Shooting Times, so well done B&N
I am very pleased with the work done by 'The other guy' but not the length of time he took to do it so cannot afford to use him again because of that.

Nice one mate cracking looking rifle, well done Mike very very generous glad there are some good guys out there as well as the *******

Well done Jon, its been a long time coming (since you won the prize) but what a result and yet again Mike Norris delivers. I have had a few things done by Mike and nothing but praise.

Congratulations Jon, that's a fantastic rifle that anybody would be proud to own. I've known you for about three years and over that period the tale of the '9.3' has become a saga. You have faced severe disappointment and disservice in the course of this journey, winning a prize that became more of a millstone and running joke. It is fantastic to see the great work that Mike at Brock and Norris has produced, giving you the prize that you deserved. I look forward to seeing it. Mike's work is obviously fantastic and if I were looking for custom rifle work to be done, that's where I would go. As for thé gentlemen that left you in the lurch, I think yours and the testimonies of many others would would pose the question as to why anybody would use him.

That is a fantastic looking rifle Jon - craftsmanship at it finest! Stock looks great, metalwork looks incredible..... you must be extremely proud, especially after the trials and tribulations involved in getting it. Hats off to Mike for stepping in to help you out; obviously one of the good 'uns!

I got my rifle from Mike Norris. I was treated like **** from my local rfd so done some research. I spoke to Mike and a deal was done. He fitted my scope and set the rifle up. It was sent to another rfd down this way. I opened the box to see the test target and he is true to his word.
It's a shooter.
If I ever need any work doing he will be my first choice.

Finally.... can the fat lady sing now? I think someone should sing Brock and Norris's praises!
The very best of luck with the rifle Swazi - Exceptional work by Mike.

Safe and straight shooting.

Regards,
Glendine.

Lovely looking rifle mate hope to see it in the flesh this year at the H4H shoot if there is one. Speaking of which I haven't seen any posts on the shoot this year any idea if it's on anyone?

I do love stories with happy endings!
Great looking rifle, and a big thumbs up for B&N.
As someone else has said, their generosity in this instance, followed by a glowing recommendation from a very satisfied client, is worth more than any amount of advertising. Well done to them for understanding the true value of customer service.

Cheers guys.
Just went out to have a go and set it up.
50m 3 shot group with Gecco 255 gr factory ammo

Then went back to 100m.
Not bad as it’s topped with a 1-4x24 scope

Mike.
Mince again thank you for stepping in this with your experience and time out of your own pocket.

Its a shooter :-)

Sir. You are a gent.

Met with Mike on Friday. Managed to get the last tub of Retumbo in the country! After a bit of his research bought some RS70 for when it runs out to feed the 7mm Rem Mag Had a good chat on Africa etc I do think he has been particularly generous and sporting as it turns out he has had a tough time too with some of his staff ripping him off a not inconsiderable sum

Yes. He did tell me about that and what’s been going on. Not a nice thing to happen when you put trust in people.

But the charactor that Mike is he will pull through it all and come out the other side.

As you say he is a very genourous man!!!
