hiring a trained deer

Why wouldn’t they look forward to it? They do it because they like, certainly not for the money!

Even a gynocologist gets tired of his job….. If you are doing it for a living, of course you are doing it for the money….

Good one Daven! I do it for the love of doing it but you do need money to live.

No, you do something because you like it. You just happen to get paid for something you like doing

guess it's pretty much the same principal here… At least on forestry land… But your several thousand hectare would be broken down and leased… In the case around here 50-80 hectare for 600-1000 euro per year with a cull plan.. if you meet it, you get a couple hundred off the next year lease... then, at the end of the year, the manager sets up a drive hunt or two…. Private Reviers like the one I am in has a cull plan to meet set by some guru and we have to pay damages caused by roe and pigs. Our roe damage is minimal so we don't kill a lot, pigs don't do much damage because the neighboring reviers are more interesting to them...

Perhaps think about what you pay other members of the night-shooting team? I would sometimes pay a young lad a few quid to hold a lamp if my regular buddies refused to leave the warmth of a Cannich pub. My dog was always at least (!) as valuable as them.

Alternatively, presumably the FC are paying: ask the ranger manager what he's willing to pay out of his budget.

Or better yet, lend the dog for nothing and cement your friendship.

Kind regards,

Carl

£20 a (working) day. Based on the difference in wages between a beater without a dog and a picker up with a dog. I would say the difference is the dogs wage.

That’s tax deductible mind, since the dog can be enjoyed as a pet out of work. Taxable benefit!

Yes I heard this before. I must be the only person that think the burden outweighs the benefit when it comes to keeping a dog, when it is not actually working
