Sorry to hear this, it’s never easy, our old spaniel is now 12, she’s going blind, slightly deaf and a tad senile but I wouldn’t be without her, I dread the day she goes

It really is the worst part of having a dog. I've be heart broken too many times from this - they truly do leave a hole in your heart that cannot be filled!

Thanks for all your kind words, it’s unbelievable how such a big hole she has left!
I keep thinking I hear her feet on the floor or her getting every last bit of food out of her bowl!

Sorry for your loss. My senior lab is 13 1/2 now and has a myriad of issues. She seems to do better in the cold, so I think we will make it through winter but doubt she will make it through another summer.

I’ve buried several of my canine friends, and there is one little thing that seems to make it easier. I put the grave in a spot I can visit, and after each hunt I take a feather out and lay on the grave and tell them about the hunt. The visits get fewer and fewer as the pain softens.
