Lead ban date announced

Again how they going to police it?
With a magnet?
That’s a lot of search warrants
I don’t know about your laws, but ours gives the right to enter and inspect firearms and ammunition storage facilities without a warrant by appointment to police officers.

Frankly I don’t know all the hows and I don’t agree with some of the why’s, but I intend to comply as far as I can. It’s just not worth the trouble.
I’m getting to keep my .22, steel kills clays very adequately, bismuth will be expensive for my game shooting, but I dont shoot too many shells per season, my stalking rifles are happy with non lead bullets, I don’t do full bore target anymore.
YMMV, and best of luck to you, but at this stage of life I’m going to suit myself, someone else can take over the campaign.

That’s fine reloading consumables will be fine then?

Projectiles are not ammunition until construction
I honestly don’t see how that could work out, the law will ban “possession” post transition. It is specifically lead projectiles that are being banned, therefore it seems logical that the lead projectiles will be deemed prohibited, whether or not they are loaded. You can argue the point, life is too short for me to get involved.

Brilliant, so holding loose lead shot is not a problem?
It could be, as far as I remember lead shot is one of the items that is being specifically banned for both shooting and fishing.
Here are my suggestions,
(1). Transition whatever you can to the alternatives.
(2). Whatever you can’t transition, carry on as you are.
(3). Shutdefuc up about (2).

(3). Is most important, do what you have to do, but keep it private, no more posts here or anywhere else, just ignore the bits of legislation that dont suit you and get on with it.
Quietly.

Guaranteed some tool will give it the big’un on social media😂😂😂

The restriction refers to ‘projectiles’, so no getting around it by having components as opposed to loaded ammunition (or, for a muzzle loader the components for loading).

However, it only prohibits the ‘sale’ and ‘use’ so continued possession of existing lead projectiles will not be criminalised. You won’t though be able to use it or sell it, legally.

While there are exceptions for projectiles that aren’t shot, for use on ranges, there are no exceptions for shot (outside of the Olympic athlete exception) so sale and purchase of shot will be effectively prohibited.

I believe the reference to having lead ammo on a license will be to provide for collectors and allow them to buy/sell post the restriction taking effect.

On a more positive note, I’d consider a lead slug to fall under the projectiles other than shot, so can still be sold for use on a range. So at least the PSG boys won’t have to find lead free slugs, subject to adequate lead recovery.
