Leatherman or Gerber?

Have a look at the SOG, well made and has inter changeable tools. very well built piece of kit. Use to have a gerber and it beats it hands down on build quality and flexibility.

Had a Gerber for several years well pleased with it, though it was hardly what you would have called a multi tool
two knife blades, screwdrivers plain and cross point and a very strong pliers, that was it, the pliers had their own handles and did not use the frame work of the tool as a handle as most multi tools do.

It must have been good as some bar steward stole it out of my truck.

i have had an original Supertool for 20+yrs. Super bit of kit, sent back to Whitby for overhaul this autumn, they replaced pliers but not knife, saw, screwdriver as now obsolete, so was a little disappointed. I purchased a Leatherman Rebar for my son this xmas. He was well pleased and it looks like a very nice bit of kit.

Currently out of stock however delivery arrived in Heathrow xmas eve so should be available mid Jan.

Went with the Leatherman Wave, got it today from local gun shop, £75!Couldn't find anywhere I could get my paws on a Victorinox for a feel/play about, like to handle something before I buy.

I got an original... originally..... then lost it within a few years.......... eeeeeeventually I got another "original"... by that time they weren't the latest thing anymore and I had to search one out........ and I lost that too...... (in my defence I was carrying it around the farm and used it practically every working day for donkey's years... through lambings, calvings, spring-summer and harvest tractor-work and maintenance jobs).... when it was gone I sorta pined for another one for at least a decade, completely forgot about the idea as silly and uncalled for, given the certain outcome... and then... Lo!... A very generous son and his fiancee have just given me a new Leatherman Rebar for Christmas.... I'm feart to take it out of the house, or even leave it lying out of it's sheath.... :scared:

It is a lovely wee bit of kit though and seems far stronger than the original and better designed too, without being significantly bulkier.... I like... a lot. :D

Leatherman every time if it breaks for whatever reason simply send it to Whitby Knives and they will either replace or repair, can't fault them.
