Leicestershire Firearms application set back

We do empathise with people waiting for their licenses. For reasons I won't go into, we reapplied for our licenses in sept 2023 but it's now been a year since we applied with no sign of the FAC yet, even though our referees have been contacted and we've had the inspection (29th April 2024). We have contacted them a couple of times to be told they are short staffed so there are delays ( the last time was in June). But how long do we leave it?

Are you a BASC member? If so, get them on the case.
If not BASC then whatever shooting organisation you belong to might be able to help.

Difficult to comment on this without knowing the full facts (I understand why you may not wish to disclose them).

There is the answer. It may not be helpful, but there it is.
But how long do we leave it?

Before doing what? If you have spoken to them, and they have told you they are short staffed, what do you expect anyone to do?

Thank you will contact BASC.
I forgot to say that we're in Leicestershire, it would be interesting to know if all new applications are taking this long with them.

I was just wondering whether to contact them again to see if there's a problem, or for all we know it may have been posted but got lost in the post

This has happened to a friend of mine change of address when inquiring about the delay in receiving his SGC was told it had been posted out but he hadn’t received it.

As its been 5 months since the inspection and we were told 3-4 months if I should contact them? But this will be the 3rd time and we don't want to get their backs up.

You won’t Leicestershire are very good albeit a bit slow due to backlogs not their fault lack of funding and cut backs under staffing.

I'd send them an email,if it wasn't for an fac and you were waiting for anything else like a passport, you'd be on the phone weekly. They won't turn down your application because you contacted them more than twice.

My renewal is up mid December so I started the process 2 weeks ago. Doctors report is needed first then the application. Great to deal with just seriously understaffed.

Yes got a reminder. Started process immediately. Can’t be without FAC as it will be bang in the middle of fallow control etc, as seen from my post yesterday it may pose a welfare risk of I’m without rifles etc.

Applied for my Firearms and Shotgun Licenses back in October 2023, rang them for an update to find out that my application isn't on their system and there is no trace of me.

I am getting a little worried/ frustrated because I rang again today and was again told that there is no trace of me!? This is despite being told the copies of my application I sent via email would be accepted and processed back in February.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues?
I no longer post mine ( besides the security of a list of goodies and my address and phone numbers) There is the fact that UK post has become a total joke ! I now drive them down to force HQ and retain a photograph on handing in to security and put a call into my feo . I know it doesn't help you but you likely need to start again

I send mine recorded delivery but it makes no difference when it gets posted back with a second class stamp.

Thinking about it now I’ll be hand delivering mine then have a day out in Leicester
When I posted my letters I did both just to be sure. I also hand delivered my letter to the Chief Constable at the Enderby headquarters. Have you let the Chief constable know about your situation?

No as I don’t have a situation
Who is the chief constable now?, I know there was a stand in after Simon Cole left and subsequently died. We know Nigel Rixon, head of firearms, and when we emailed him after 6 months he did push it over to the FAI, but also asked us to be patient - it's now been 12 months
