MEDICAL VERIFICATION

If I were the GP I would price it on how long it was going to take. So if the client has relevant medical issues to discuss then it should cost more.

Contacted my GP surgery today and was informed that a fee of £110 would be charged for a medical verification , in connection with my firearm renewal application.
It would be interesting to see the variations in fees being quoted to members , as this is now a mandatory requirement and at some stage
every firearm /shotgun holder will have to go through this procedure.
I notice that BASC is offering a medical panel service, has any member used this service.
Here's the BMA Fees Guidance to GPs.

There isn't a specific entry yet for completing the FAC Medical Proforma, but expect to pay the charge for 'more complex certificates'.
If a patient hasn't had a consultation recently (within the last 6 months say) then the GP may have to trawl through the paper records, and charge extra.
My GP practice charged me the minimum £36 (£30 + VAT) in cash, but would have taken a cheque.
The form was ready to collect next day.;)

Put my renewal in well in advance, as I have a number of overseas clients this year. 3 week wait for the medical notes returned and £27.60 for the cost. I was surprised at how cheap it was. However I had to pay by phoning a NHS service off site, and pay with a card, before they released the forms.
All in now with Kent police and a follow up call to ask them if everything was in order, was well received by a very helpful and polite gentleman at the end of the phone.

I renewed my application for my FAC's just before Christmas, advised my physicians details on the form. Licences arrived roughly two weeks later, no charge from my GP, very satisfactory.

£35 at my GP a fortnight ago. They put a copy of the report they'd emailed to the police in the post to me a few days after I paid them. I'm pleasantly surprised.

So paid on the 06/12/21 to MC they finally received my records end of Jan spoke to them Monday and was told their Dr had finished processing my records and I would have a scanned copy and hard docs this week, it’s Friday and still waiting 🤷‍♂️.

Just submitted my renewal and used Shotgun Medicals...he's a gp that shoots.

Once he had my medical details he had a reply to me in 3 days.
