Mistake on my FAC

So, 5 days ago a wrote into my local firearms authority requesting that my closed condition be lifted based on the some 600 acres of land I have authority upon in my county. They obliged much to my satisfaction. Upon receipt of my updated license papers I noted that the .22RF sound moderator which I own, has been left off the acquired section and has been reallocated to the authority section. Also, the 17 HMR and mod, which I sold recently and provided notification of, has not been replaced but instead deleted entirely. That said the authority to the 750 rounds has remained on the licence papers.
The .308 and mod, .223 and mod have been correctly designated
The result is:

I have a sound moderator but not according to my paper work.
I have the authority to acquire a sound moderator despite knowing this not to be correct
I have authority over HMR ammunition though I no longer have a slot for the rifle or mod.

Look, I know where I stand here, it simply means writing in to inform my local authority of the issues.

My question is, do you think it unlawful, not less illegal to procure ammunition for the firearms to which I know I have authority over? I.e the materials I need to reload .308 ammunition, tomorrow before sending the letter in notifying the local authority of the mistake?
I fear a long and laborious process may be ahead, of exchanges.

Many thanks in advance for your time reading. I appreciate any feedback.

Don’t leave it for Christ sake of their mistake will end up being a right pain in your ass. I’d strike while the irons hot and just give them a ring and just explain the situation. If you approach it the right way they’ll likely bump it to the front of the queue, make the adjustments and send it back by return. They’ve made an admin mistake but they’re likely wading through a ****-ton of variations & applications so don’t be too agro as that’ll get you nowhere.

Don't see an issue with what your have in writing. A phone call & brief chat to confirm you can hold that until the correct cert is ready surely wouldn't be a problem. Ring & see

Had an issue a while ago where there was a typo and ended up with the wrong caliber. Wrote back politely pointing out that there appears to be a difference between what was requested/ agreed over the phone call and what was assigned. It was promptly corrected and returned. Doubt if this will be an issue as long as you do the necessary within a reasonable amount of time to rectify. Mistakes might be made but can be corrected. Hope it gets sorted out for you soon.

Just email Middlemoor letting them know about the errors and to expect your FAC for amendment and request a fast turnaround

Which components for .308 do you think you’ll not be able to acquire without your FAC?

Noted! Many thanks. Didn’t consider a phone call to fair! Traceability would be all ok? I suppose calls are recorded etc?

Large primers are the extent of my concerns. They are the only items that are regulated

Stock up before you send it in.

I doubt you’ll be waiting long for your FAC to be turned around though.

You are correct Orion, i spoke to Middlemoor about a 1 for 1 today, they have no backlog at present, so most work is being completed within a week.

Just call them, explain the situation and then follow it up with a confirmatory email. No later ‘misunderstandings’ that way.

An old mate once told me that the F in firearms doesn’t stand for ‘friends’ when it goes wrong....

I had an issue where a shotgun was incorrectly deleted from my SGC after a change of address in July. I phoned and emailed Devon & cornwall on the day I recieved my Certs and was told there was no record of that shotgun ever leaving the RFD.

I still have not recieved my SGC back. After providing copies of my proof of purchase and proof I notified the police at the time of purchase a new SGC was issued in September but never arrived. After many emails and phone conversations I have been told it will be with me by Monday.

Point being, I wish I had stocked up on carts before sending it back as I haven't been able to buy any for the last 3 months.

Although I would not sign a cert which is incorrect, therefore I would think an RFD would be well within their rights to refuse to sell to someone with an unsigned cert (whether they inspect it thoroughly enough to pick that up though?).

I am also interested in the legality of such a matter, as if the certificate is incorrect and unsigned can it be deemed something like obtaining ammunition fraudulently?

You'll be fine. Buy the ammo you need based on the authority your FAC grants you. Just give them a shout and let them know about the mistake. Admin' cockups happen. My FAC and SGC came back to me following renewal with my name spelled differently on each.

My FAC once came back with authority to acquire “45mm Rifle and ammunition”.

I was sooooo tempted but the import hassles from Russia were not worth it and I had a deposit on a lovely Marlin 45Colt which I still own to this day.

The local firearms dept. rectified their error within 1hr of my phone call (in which we discussed the difference between .45inch cf. 45mm with reference to a ruler on the FEO’s desk. The tone of rising panic in their voice was tangible...)

no disrespect to anyone trying to help,, but you need to speak directly to the forearms dept that issued the fac.
and be sure to be polite and understanding, nobody likes to have their ear bent after they fecked up. ;)

I had a duplicate calibre addition once put on a renewal.

Quick call to the FEO, posting the incorrect one back with a new one through the letterbox within the week.

I have had mistakes before. A phone call followed where they said send it back with a covering letter. The replacement came by return post.
Easy enough to make mistakes, a polite understanding conversation usually sorts them quickly.
I would however scan the FAC before I sent it back. You never know when pointing out they make mistakes too might help. :-|

West Mercia deleted my .17hmr mod slot when I sent my ticket in for a change of address. I only noticed last week when I went to buy a new .17hmr & mod, but a quick phone call meant I had the correctly updated ticket on the mat 2 days later (along with a stamped envelope to send my old one back in too).
