Not if coated first John... left in ambient room temp to dry... some don’t even remove the mod but that’s another story .
That's when the REAL PROBLEMS come out to play, and defo NOT to be encouraged or followed in any way shape or form. I did at least remove my moderator from the muzzle of my .223 Foxing Rifle, but due to a couple of months of quite serious illness last year I did NOT disassemble, clean, dry and reassemble as per my usual post heavy session regime.
That left my otherwise really terrific Predator 8 moist inside and just full of strongly alkaline, Ammoniacal by-products of propellant powder burn. When I did finally come out of the illness side of things the Predator 8 was LOCKED UP SOLID with corrosion products,.... And do I ever mean LOCKED UP SOLID!!!.
So take my stupidity results as a very definite warning and DO take your moddy off the muzzle of your rifle after EACH and EVERY shooting outing, and DO disassemble and clean if at all possible again following each and every outing with it attached to your rifle's muzzle, or be prepared to go through the hassles I did this year, from Spring way into late Summer... 'Till You are able to get the various parts of your moddy separated and cleaned. NOT something I plan EVER to repeat I can assure everyone!!!....
But Now I should also like to get a useable moddy wrap that will keep the serious heat haze from my vision when involved in range-day competitions like 'The MacQueens', where ten shots are required to be taken at differing targets over a short time period, giving rise to much heat induced sighting disturbances!..
I currently utilise a Barrel Band that helps quite a bit with barrel heat 'wobblies' but just does not stop the heat haze interference caused by the moddy which completely pokes out BEYOND the barrel band's farthest reach...
A good moddy wrap will also assist considerably with removal of said at the end of the shooting comp', giving something worthy of a good, strong grip that won't get one's digits burnt on the still hot 'Can'....
ATB ....... and shoot safely
