I have a 6.5 Sako 85 20" medium weight and the barrel was lap polished by Lawrence Precision before used. Accuracy was superb from the first shot. I have a an 85 in 270 22" lightweight and the gun had 20 rds through it before I had it. Just 30 rds later it is shooting ridiculously accurate. A 20" medium weight Tikka T3 that had less than 100 rds through it before me and again it shoots as well as the first two. From Tikka's website describing their barrels:
"Cold forged barrels have outstanding out-of-the-box accuracy, so you don’t have to break-in the barrel."
That has been my experience. Excellent out of the box accuracy. ~Muir
Sako/Tikkas out of the box are renowned for a good reason
Someone said to me the other day that they felt the bolts on Tikka feel cheap and loose, telling me about the merits of his Howa. The Howa may be a decent rifle but if you need an accurate rifle that works go Tikka or maybe Sako, if your life depended on it......... Tikka
