Parker Hale mounts

Hi,

I would be grateful for some help please.

I have a mate who has a Parker Hale. Not sure if it's a hunter or safari. 243 win ( apparently it's been out of production for 23yrs,his view). Attached picture of rifle. Scope in background is irrelevant.

What receiver base mounts did a Parker Hale come with ?? Or what are the I.d numbers for a matched set??

As He had the original bases that fit on the receiver machined so any sizing I.d have been machined off. Currently he has a rear base, stock end, with A.28 the front base with A22. The rear base is thicker than the front base. (The original bases have a slight height diffeference but not as much as the current one's). He also has a front base with A3 so clearly there are different sizes

Also unable to fit his Schmidt bender 6x42 on to the rifle as unable to get scope back far enough for correct eye relief. The front mount needs to be off set back towards the stock.

Any suggestions please on what the correct matching bases should be and best way to get over the mounting issues.

Thanks

I have a similar rifle, if it is the same action as the Parker Hale 1200 (which I am not nearly clever enough to decide from looking at a pic with no bolt in!) then I gave up in the end and just replaced the bases with the Leupold Mauser 98 ones. It game me freedom to just buy whatever size rings I wanted rather than messing around trying to get PH ones of the right height/offset etc.

if The scope needs set back forget all about Parker hale bases and rings instantly.

There are a few offerings on the market, Weaver, Talley, Leupold, aso. All somewhat budget stuff but works fine. You will do better searching for Mauser 98 extended bases and rings than offset.

Also, warne do front bases that are extended with matching rings, and the extension isn’t so along as to give that ugly rail look, yet long enough. Can also with warne QD rings give the quick detatach option

I have 2 similar rifles. Both have original P-H bases, so I use P-H rings, which means I'm limited in terms of what diameter tubed scopes I can use. I wanted to change to Weaver type bases so I could use a 30mm tube scope, but, despite lots of suitable bases advertised on online, all seemed to be unavailable.

Anyone know what the spec/name is for these old PH dovetails?

I have a friend who has been given a rifle with these same A22 A28 blocks on, and we are trying to put a scope on it.
And the requirement is to do it at zero cost.
If I could, I'd take the rifle and make something fit, but I'm stuck with only getting to look at it over a cuppa and ferret about with ordering something to fit.
I've had a couple of goes, but it's getting embarrasing now!

Let’s hope these pages from Parker Hale can help you !

I’ve now fitted a picatinny rail to my PH Safari (from Alan Rhone), but I was using the old bases with Sportsmatch dovetail rings (15mm if memory serves me correct). PM me if you’re still stuck, as I’m sure that I’ve still got the bases and a set of 30mm rings for them in a drawer somewhere.

You need Parker hale rings. They should be virtually free from anyone who has them in a drawer.
Dream on Skippy. About £40 a pair on a certain auction site. If you open your listing to international bids, and time your auction to end about 20:00 EST, anything "Parker Hale" will do well.

I have used Parker Hale rings on my CZ550 , same size dovetail. So if all else fails some Sportsmatch ones will fit.
Unfortunately I sent my remaining PH rings to a bloke in Australia. So can’t help that way. The others went with the CZ iirc when I sold it.
