pistol for dispatch

.22 are notorious for riquoces, thast way a larger caliber is better!
Ive seen it done many times and never seen it happen yet , if you want to sit in the bottom of a 8ft hole and fire a 38 up a stop end feel free but its an earth moving moment

Si , Taff makes the same observation a couple of Pages back on this thread...

I only ask because I know of two recent applications that have been granted without any problem.... Which leads me to believe that the so called "tightening up" could just be hype.

Not that a forum like the stalking directory would be somewhere where you get any unsubstantiated rumors flying around !!! :)

Have a friend that was in the process of applying for a .22 semi auto pistol 2 shot for dispatch . last I heard he said he got the slot on his ticket. but dont know if he has the pistol yet or what spistol he was looking at. force was south yorkshire

i have a slot on my ticket for a long barrel pistol in .22 for target either semi or revoler, wonder if you could get hd added at a later date,

not that i would want or need just wondered

You probably could get it added at a later date Spoony but I wouldn't bother. LBRs and LBPs are unbalanced awkward things to use at the best of times and certainly wouldn't be as useful as a real pistol in a confined space, and would be a pain to carry around.

My friend and myself both have 38/357 2 shot revolvers and were granted without any further information needed other than our initial request..

I have a .38 Rossi

Spoony hants told me I could not use my LB pistol for humane dispatch, but could use my rifles.

I got one add on my last renewel 357/38 I had to give good reason. I copied my level 2 & gave a few other paper work.

Dipatching Deer & cage fox I was asked if I could account for how many deer I shot last year give a copy of my larder records & shows h my deer heads from march 2011- march 2012

Hi,the term need is what the police assess when they are establishing the applicant,s good reason to possess,ie why do you need a pistol for HD when a 410 will do the job? My own pistol is a humane slaughtering instrument primarily, with a condition for humane dispatch ,that is not the same as a pistol application primarily used for HD by a recreational stalker, the fact remains that the police are tightening up on the grant of these pistols and as I said previously any application has to be watertight.

Okay - thanks for clarifying.

I'm still stuck on the "fact" that the police are "tightening up". Is there any actual, definitive, written legal backup to this assertion? Has a piece of case law occurred that has changed the understood legal standpoint? Has there been a change to the relevant legislation? The police are there to enforce and uphold the law, not interpret it. We have courts, judges and a whole legal system for that. If you mean "it's a fact that the police have decided to make it up as they go along, and a different person says that this is the case so it's a fact" then I'll go with you, otherwise it's not a "fact" merely one persons opinion/assertion.

Matt all I can say is what the flo told my son to his face and what I was told when I rang them.I doub,t if there has been a change in the law, as with all firearms law it seems to be what ever the chief constable for the area wants it to mean. And as we know the sooner it's taken out of here hands the better.
