Hi folks just after some opinions from those who have actually used PPU
Now on a page on Facebook (wont say which one ) some folks are suggesting that PPU bullets are not up to the job.
Personally PPU wont group for love nor money in my rifle however once i pull the bullet and re-seat i can get very good 1" groupings (.270 130grn)
And everything i hit have never went far.
Very interested in what others have to say about this.

My daughter has killed big whitetail bucks with her 243 with factory PPU that groups well under an inch from her Model 70 Winchester. My friend has killed several mule deer with PPU 30-06. I load PPU bullets in my handloads and get better than average accuracy and good, quick, kills.~Muir

.222 50gr, .243 100gr, .308 150&180gr, 30-06 180Gr all work fine in my rifles and I have seen them used in other calibres on Boar to good effect by others.
It would seem, from what I've heard from others, that if it doesn't suit your particular rifle then it isn't good but I've yet to see anybody not do well with it for hunting.
I am not a long range target shooter so cannot comment on it's suitability for that use.

Tried it in my .308 and it's excellent. It's another story in my .243 though, wouldn't group at all! I guess you need to try it and if it works for you then that's a good result.

Bagged a fair few fallow with 150gr .308 PPU bullets and all of them never complained they weren't up to the job.
For me they did what they were supposed to do

I use the same bullet here for Moose , Elk and bear , they work great . I've also used their 8mm bullets with really good results .

I use factory ammo and am happy with it. Got 300 rounds in Denmark on a Cinema Trip and can't fault it. I would suggest not firing 130 rounds in one day on running boar targets. You notice it the next day around the tenth round, ouch ;(

Never had an issue with ppu and have hD quite a few deer fall to them in 243 and 30-06, I have used it in 223, 9mm and 30-30 for paper punching and it has always been pretty accurate.

why would they say it was no good for hunting? Load of tripe really!

Glad to hear this. I have 1000 of these bullets purchased for my 9.3x57. Haven't tried them yet.~Muir

I use them in my husky 9.3X57 , they work perfectly , even at the lower velocities that the 57 produces . One thing though , you won't recover to many if you use them on deer lol . I love my 9.3X57 , it's a very capable round and will reliably take large game with little recoil and comes in light , handy rifles . It's one of my favorites .

Hi
i use PPU 150gr .308 in my Tikka T3image.webp As you can see from a 3 shot group from 100m.
Highly recommend them, especially for the price. The brass is good for reloading as well.

I used ppu in my 243 100gr sp and 223 50gr sp before I started using home loads. Both rifles were happy with it. .243 was 1 inch groups at 100 yards and the .223 was clover leaf groups at 100 yards. The 243 ppu took many roes at 150 yds and the 223 took foxes and crows at 200- 300 yds. Also found the brass to be good for reloading! James

Never had a problem with ppu in 243, for a long time all my friends used them in a number of rifle makes and models, all grouped at an inch or there abouts. More than adequate for our needs. I also agree, the brass is excellent for reloading and if it was not for starting reloading i am sure i would still be using them.

Why?

if someone is going to discount something then they need to back that up with hard evidence

I wouldn't be surprised if a huge number of bullets branded as x, y and z are actually ALL made in the same place!!

just look at brass.
half the brands that people get into p1ssing contests over which one is best are made by the same people!!

They may all be made in the same place by the same people but it doesn't necessarily mean they all have the same quality of raw materials and same levels of quality control. that's where most savings are made if labour costs are the same.

agreed but at the end of the day if you fired a bit of gravel at 3000fps it will kill

I am intrigued how for standard stalking purposes any cup and core design is failing to kill humanely and it is down entirely to the bullet construction and constituent materials.
We are not shooting dangerous game or buffalo here.

if it goes through both sides, slows down a bit between the two and gets a bit wider on the way......that is all it has to do!
